  • SP-1 for sale

    Spock

I have put my thick skin on.
    VTR1000SP-1
    Year 2000
    Kms 42400
$11,000 or I keep it and put it on ice.

    Story;

A mate worked with a bloke who was second owner, he had not ridden it since 2006 and wanted to sell it. Mate was dithering so I said "Go ya Halves" and we did.
Had it checked out, tank was de-rusted internally, coated and new fuel pump.
Other minor works were carried out (all receipts held)
Licenced and 8500 kms since 2016.
    New rear tyre 1500kms ago.
Has some light scratches on lower bellypan from low speed drop in gravel by previous owner, his leg saved the side panels.

Rides great but I am not flexible enough to have lots of fun on it (I am getting old apparently) and fun is what you have on it, the other owner lives in Broome so it stays down here in my garage.

Anyway it is on Bike Sales https://www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/d...-6531234/?Cr=4 and we have had strong interest from the east coast, fuck them though, preferred it stayed here.

    Will cry when it goes.

Photo link is annoying me but here it is

          1 beautiful bike!

Why did Honda stop producing them?

Honda designed and built them back in the day to challenge Ducati dominance of WSBK, which they did. But the factory pulled out of WSBK in 2003 to dedicate its resources to MotoGP and that foreshadowed the end of the bike in SP-2 spec in a few years. WSBK also allowed 1000cc fours in 2003 and Fireblades were campaigned without full factory support. The popularity of of WSBK was also on the decline.
