  • Simple questions about parking infringements for bikes

I did some forum searching and google searching but cannot find exactly what I am looking for.

    2 Questions:-

    1. When you get a parking infringement from COP on the street do you get a "notice" as such? How do they attach to the bike?

    2. Do they still chalk tyres to tag vehicles or are they more sophisticated now?

I ask because sometimes I cannot get in to a free parking bay and park in 2 hours street parking. The couple of times i have done that I have received no infringements.

    Cheers!

Under COP/Subiaco parking regs, you cannot park a motorcycle/scooter in a motor vehicle bay. There is a specific infringement for doing that.
If found and infringed, then the infringement would be ticked into a place where it is visable. ie, between tank/seat,seat strap and photos/location would be taken by the issuing officer to prove that it was done.
COP mark the position of vehicles via the valve stem and Subiaco do it with chalk(Actually a specialised crayon). Either method can be used, however, there are other methods that can be used that aren't visable.
If infringed, and the infringement isn't on the bike/car, then after 28 days you will be sent out a reminder,28 more days final notice,28 days sent to FER.

COP have street parking-In Outram St area where the bikes can park for all day with No fee, or having to move

Down here in Bunbury you can park for free in the M/C bays but have to purchase a ticket in the vehicle bays. The vehicle bays are one hour or two hour limited depending on where it is, but M/C bays are limitless.

One of the Mandurah guys got done for doing this at the Mandurah train station because all the bike bays were full of scooters. The infringement was stuck to his handle bars with an elastic band. He wrote to them explaining that all the bike bays were full and he didnt want to take up a car bay because thats illegal too and they eventually let him off.

I've had my rear tyre chalked in COP with an X in a free 2hr bay, but that's about the worst for me.

YES, in Joondalup, twice in one week because I didn't get a notice, kicked up a fuss at the councli offices,so they quashed the second one,but took a letter of complaint from Quigleys secretary before they would move.

COP electronically monitor their bays now, but I'm not sure if they still do the chalk thing as well.

watch out at City West. the car park is run by a private company and they will clamp and disc lock your bike if it is parked in the wrong place....how do I know this... becaus the bastards did it to mine...$145:00 to get the crap removed...believe its a NZ company. They also have several other spots throughout Perth.

Find a corporate car parking basement. Park somewhere that doesn't interfere with emergency exits/services and generally gives no one any hinderance and you'll be fine. You'll be surprised how many gaps there are that are useless to everyone except a PSBer! Don't worry you'll find boom gates are easy to get around when they're locked.

Been doing it for about 8 months now and not one complaint or infringement.

Alternative is to buddy up with someone who has a parking bay and know which days they ride in. Fit 4 bikes in one cage bay easily.
