  • Going thru the pits - fender eliminator??

G'day all...I'll be back in Perth next month after 18 months in Brisbane and will have to put my Gixer thru the pits to get the plates changed over. Everything on the bikes ok except I've got a fender eliminator on it which I believe may be technically illegal. I dont have the original fender.

Has anyone gone thru the pits with one on their bike???

    cheers

Might be worth hitting the wreckers up for one before you leave. You usually get two inspections with you inspection fee go and see what they say. It also helps if you know where to find the engine number and the capacity is stamped/cast on the cases.

Make sure your tail light is standard, your indicators are 30cm apart, and you have a red reflector facing rearwards (get one off a pushbike) and you should get through with no problems at all mate.

You only get one inspection for your $35.50, not two.
Modification permits are $31 if requested.
I also reccomend going to Welshpool, the guys down there are really helpful.

Try gettin a letter from one of the bike shops saying it is not effecting any safety aspect, interferance etc. this worked with my ute when they complained by wa regs it was too low (by 23mm) in the front, guick trip to pedders and letter in hand problem solved.

While we are on the topic, my blade is going through soon. What is there opinion on minor dents in fuel tanks?

And a tiny crack in the side fairing?

Cosmetic defects that do not render the vehicle unsafe or unroadworthy are no probs.

I got a mk 1 escort licensed with a freshly dented rear right 1/4 panel and a crack in the tail light too cos some arse in the carpark (yes in the line waiting to go over the pits) reversed into the back of the car

The guy was more interested in the Cosworth 2litre under the hood, the 4 speed single rail box and the shortened borg warner diff!

Shouldn't be a problem so long as the eliminator is fitted with a rego plate light.

don't the rear fenders have to be @ 45 degrees of axle?

PM me if you need one, I should have one laying around.

i want to know about the tank issue too, cos mine is tortoise shelled, but i heard from a little birdy that is ok, so long as there are no creases (ie where there is a potential to split)
