  • Where to get tyres?

Being new to the scene just need advice on good places to spend my hard earned $$.

Need some tyres 4 the GPX soon and wondering where's going to give me a good deal, and more importantly GOOD SERVICE.
Any suggestions? Where u guys go?

Also need a new lid. Been told to go Shoei all the way... wheres the best deal?

    Thanks in advance
    HONDA! F#@ YER!

Ring around - i spent $145 on the rear and $99 on the front. There seemed to be zero choices on tyres, but on the bright side at least you have an easy decision to make. I am sure the appropriate retail representatives lurking on here will do you a better deal Let the price wars commence!

P.S. on the lid side of things I lub my Shoei, but find a helmet based on what fits u best - they are all shaped that little bit different.

i can recommend the bridgestone bt001s and 012s on a small bike ..

i took them on the track .... and they worked a treat...

they are a great tyre .. i have found that they need a bit longer to heat up properly but once they get there they are really good ... they give good confidence and road feel .. (and u can lean all the way to the edge easily)

i got mine thru kamahl at causeway ..
Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

I've got just over 17,000kms (so far) out of my rear Avon, but that mostly hiway riding... It does include two track days tho!

They have never missed a beat and have stuck like shit to a blanket...

Looks like I'll get around another months riding out of the rear - replace mid Jan... 8)

            For tyres,

Ring "Tyres For Bikes" out on Albany Hwy Vic Park.

You will not find tyres cheaper anywhere. And they will fit balance as part of the price. Good blokes, good service.

If you mention you pay cash you will prob get a bit of a discount.
I've bought 5 sets of tyres from there now and get good prices so me is happy

But yeah failing that like the boys say try Northside Kwaka/ Causaway honda I suppose, but since Tyres for bikes specialise in it its hard to compete.
            Will you insure me?!

Reckon u could get em for a GPX?? Remember they have tiny rims.
If so .... not happy jan! I hate being fobbed off for having a GPX and being a girl!!

MoreHPLessKg let us know if you find something other than factory for it.

yup .. philth and i ordered supacorsa's (and got them too) but the ratio wasnt quite rite and they are heavy in construction ..

the bridgestones were the direct replacemtent for them .. similar compound .. but these weigh less so give u a better tyre speed

philth runs a smaller rim than i do and he got a set no problems .. he runs 16 inch rims ... go see kamahl ..ask him to fit the same as he put on mine and phils bike ....

in every tire review i have seen in every mag the bridgestones come out as the best overall road track tire ..with the supacorsas coming out as the best overall track only tire for bike bikes

I've never had better tyres on the 9... $300.00 for the rear, $200.00 for the front...

On the PE trackday, I rode right to the edge...and the rear was around 15k old then... Had it spin up once on the last turn to the start straight, cause I was in second, rather than 3rd...

Most of the k's have been on hiways tho...

                        17,000 Kms?? shit how?

                        On a ZX9?

One thing I'd never skimp on is tyres. Get the stickiest, softest tyres you can afford. Cheaper to spend few hundy extra a year then fixing a bike or paying hospital bills.

I'd ring Tyres For bikes and ask them for advice. Everyone will give you different advice, based on different bikes & riding styles. So my rule of thumb STICKIEST you can afford. Prob need replacement every 4000-8000kms depending on use but hey, you will not have a voice at the back of your mind saying "Will my bike hold up in this corner at this speed".
                        Will you insure me?!
