Lowered LAMS bikes?

Hey,

Girlfriend is looking at getting a bike but she's a little vertically challenged, she wants a Ninja 300 or a CBR500 but when we went to have a look she couldn't pick the bikes up comfortably. Surely someone else has had this issue? How'd you overcome this, do dealers carry bikes with lowering links in them?

Shave the seat down and get heels in the boots is what most do from what I have seen?

Suspension lowering kits are available for the Ninja, havent checked for the CBR, but it needs to be a last resort. Can she get the balls of both feet comfortably on the ground? If so then she might be able to get enough extra through the seat and boots without changing the suspention.

Nah not really, she's only 150cm..

You need to get the foot down on one side comfortably. Lowering links are available for most everything, but if she's 150cm there's not going to be much at all on the market that's suitable, unless she wants to look at step-through scooters.

If she cant fit on a sports bike and still wants to ride something more than a scooter, it (i cant believe i'm about to say this) may be worth looking at some of the smaller cruisers like Viragos etc. They look suitable for munchkins.

its not just the seat height u need to consider, my missus sat on the cbr500 at the bike show and hated it straight away the length from the seat/back of tank to the handle bars is huge.

The CBR500R can be lowered 20mm or 50mm My wife is considering one and is 5'2 also you can scoop the seat out a bit which we did to here VTR250 which helped heaps.
we where quoted and extra $400 for the lowered CBR and the seat reupholstered cost around $100-150.

Ducati Monster, it is a LAMS bike and has a low seat height, not sure how tiny morag is, but she's not very tall!!
