  • Road Safety Council backs calls for motorcyclists to use bus lanes

Hmmmm, taking bikes that already split out of the equation will reduce congestion?

Im all for it if it happend but curious of the general PSB opinion. Yeah i know its Perthnow so lets take it with a grain of salt.

Just do it. Seriously, if you look up the standing rules of PSB it goes something like this.

    1. Dont be a dick
    2. Desmo is allowed to be a dick (sometimes)
    3. Buy the one with the most Duke
    4. Dont ask about fixing the search function.
    etc etc..

Would bring us in line with states like NSW that allow it.
Hopefully they'll add plenty of clear signs so that joe cager doesn't go ape every time a rider drops into this lane legally.

south St is always full anyway as there a good chance you won't be able to turn left in cage unless U get in 5 kays before your turn
Note: this may not be the universe where the above is relevant.

Great for some of my biking brothers and sisters who have routes with a bus lane. But personally, I hardly ever see a bus lane; this isn't exactly London. So...meh.

I can see where they are going with this. More bikes on the road during peak hours = less cars = less congestion.
The only draw back is parking. More bikes means more parking for bikes needed in the cbd.

If they could get The City of Perth to allow bike to park in the out of the way corners on footpaths or allow multipul bikes
to park in a car bay without being fined it would encourage more people to ride as well but that won't happen because COP
like parking fine revenue too much.
Don't even think about it. You know who you are.

Like putting a plaster on a severed leg.

With the general two way population layout of Perth & 1500 new residents every week, fixing congestion isn't on the table.

To keep it to a minimum you need an excellent public transport system, carpooling, as many two wheeled vehicles on the roads as possible and some open minded employers who have staff working from home if and when it's possible.

The govt needs to get behind ideas like this and start introducing schemes to make them happen.

riding in a bus lane would suck for example south street around Murdoch area the buses stop every 100-200mtrs to let some one on or off and are sometimes backed up 2 or 3 buses.
              I'll just stick to splitting

It does say in there over the next few years the bus lanes will expand dramatically throughout perth.

I raised this the other day in the bike theft at mounts bay parking thread. Most other states do it, i can think of a few little hideaways thoughout the CBD that could allow for multiple bike parking. Something needs to be done about the congestion, it was geting at boiling point when i left.

Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

It wouldn't make a rats arse difference anyway. Bus lanes here are not camera monitored and in over 5 years of bus driving, I've not once seen a cop set up shop and ticket the hordes using the bus lanes anyway.
Carry on and ride where ever you like. (just don't be one of those cocks who drives 20 under the speed limit in said bus lanes.)
Can you help with foster care?

This is not a bad thing at all and it makes a lot of sense.
Not every motorcyclist splits and now many who do will not need to as much when on these roads.
                              Spiral out, keep going...
