  • Datadots updated more info

Due to the recent theft of Klinks r1 it got me a thinkin. My car has DataDots but my bike doesn't
    What are Datadots? http://www.mdatatech.com/tech.htm
I have emailed this company regarding them for motorcycles.
You can apply them yourself at home and will piss of the theives when they realise the fairings, rims, frame and engine components have your drivers license no on them in the form of Datadots.
When they get back to me with some answers i will post them.

What do you guys think :?:
Worthwhile or waste of time :?:
    Constructive feedback appreciated :!:

Not sure but it is a do it yourself application you just have to buy the datadots.

Just waiting to hear back from mdatatech will keep you all informed.

There were a couple of sites in England quoting 50 pounds for 2000 datadots suspended in a clear paint on adhesive. That equates to just over 100 bucks i'm prepared to pay that.

klinks bike should have the datadot system...........i bought my 03 R1 from 5 star yamaha and ALL of their 03 R1's and R6's have the datadot system, i'm not sure if it's just 5 stars bikes or ALL the 03 bikes,.................klink, you sure yours didn't have it?

The datadot system is basically electronic or chemical (not sure which one) markings on LITERALLY everysingle piece of the bike, from the screws to the brake lever, ABSOLUTLY everything has been treated with datadots so if someone tries to steal the bike and break it down and sell it, all the broken down parts can be traced to the one bike, i think it might be a chemical or electrical tagging system but i'm not sure of which.

The new hondas have got the hiss system, the new yamaha's have got the datadot system.

I dont think that having the datadots put on your bike will help much as if a thief would care what the F---!.He now has your bike to ride and thrash. That datadot wont stop them at all or make them think twice. You can prime the panels and paint over the panels but not sure how you would get rid of the stuff on mechanical parts. The HISS system is a much better idea or an alarm as they would have to physically pick up the bike to take it not brake the ignition then start it.I have bought R1,s- ZX9,s-GSXR,S from the auctions which have been physically stolen and damaged, but never a honda with the HISS system as you cannot start
it without the key.The only problem with the HISS is if they cant start it they will then vandalise it so your without a rideable bike anyway.BASTARDS!

Sorry for the delay just got back to Data Dots
They are here in Perth and the products are as follows.

              1000 data dots = $95
              2000 data dots = $175
              5000 data dots = $250

These can come in 3 forms Brush on, Spray on or squeeze bottle.
The easiest to apply is in spray form and at a cost of $35 for the spray gun to allow the dots to flow through. It requires your own compressed air and a regulator to allow 14psi.
Ian Mccormick the managing director recomends no more than 2000 dots for a bike and can easily been done at home.

This will not stop your bike from being stolen but will act as a deterent to theives who will hopefully steal the bike next door. The kits come with several small stickers that can be placed on the screen or above the filler cap that reads "This product is protected by Data Dot Technology"

Ian was stating stats from cars but over the past 6 months to November last year there was a total average of 80 cars with Data Dots being stolen. As of Today that figure for January/February is currently on average 4 cars with Data dots being stolen.

The more out there with this technology the more effecient it will become.
Obviously with group buys the price reduces.
If any one "Klink" or "Hewie" needs to know anymore about the product or discounts Ian is a very approachable bloke who is willing in his own time to give us a talk about 30min on the product and the theory behind it.
Alternatly you can P.M me regarding it.

Is anyone else thinking that the sticker is the key here?

Ask them how much for 1 x sticker

                        Dear Troy,
My name is Joe Farrelly and I am the DataDot Customer Service Rep for Automotive Motorcycle & Marine in
                        West Australia.
Thanks for your enquiry regarding protecting your members pride and joys from theft.
Motorcycle theft in Australia continues to pose a MAJOR HEADACHE for both owners and police.

The National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Councils states:

MOTORCYCLES HAVE TRADITIONALLY BEEN PRIME TARGETS FOR PROFESSIONAL THIEVES BECAUSE
OF THEIR PORTABILITY AND HIGH COST OF REPLACING EASILY DAMAGED PARTS SUCH AS FARINGS AND
WHEELS. "VIRTUAL RE-BIRTHING" IS COMMON WITH ALL REMOVABLE PARTS FROM STOLEN MOTORCYCLES
BEING FITTED TO A REPLACEMENT FRAME.
THE THEFT OF MOTORCYCLES FOR CONVERSION TO CASH IS HIGHLIGHTED BY THEIR APPALLINGLY LOW
RECOVERY RATE COMPARED TO OTHER VEHICLES.

IN 2002 NEARLY 5,500 MOTORCYCLES WERE REPORTED STOLEN WITH JUST 31% RECOVERED.THIS IS IN
CONTRAST TO THE NEARLY 80% RECOVERY RATE FOR ALL VEHICLES. AND UNLIKE CARS,WHERE 7 OUT OF
EVERY 10 STOLEN ARE MORE THAN TEN YEARS OLD, MOTORCYCLE THIEVES TARGET MUCH NEWER BIKES
WITH 2000 AND 2001 MODELS BEING THE MOST AT RISK.

In May 2003 Yamaha joined the growing number of vehicle manufacturers that have adopted DataDot to combat professional
thieves. More than 100,000 new vehicles sold in Australia in 2003 now carry the technology.

                        NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS!

DataDot Aftermarket has developed a new motorcycle" Do It Yourself" kit for existing motorcycle owners whose motorcycles can
now carry the same level of protection afforded to new YAMAHA, HSV, BMW, FPR, SUBARU,PORSCHE & MINI owners.

THE DATATDOT NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE REGISTER HAS NOW BEEN ESTABLISHED.
This data base will be available for viewing by Police,Vehicle Inspection Centres,Motorcycle Dealers, Insurance Companies and
the general public. "ALL MOTORCYCLES FITTED WITH DATADOT TECHNOLOGY WILL BE REGISTERED ON THIS DATABASE"

New PROTECTED BY DATADOT TECHNOLOGY decals fitted to motorcycles now carry a clear message
"WARNING ! ALL COMPONENTS ARE PROTECTED BY DATADOT AND CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY POLICE"

The new DataDot Motorcycle kit contains 2,000 microdots which can be easily applied covertly by the owner.
The PIN number is matched to the VIN number on the "Certificate of Authenticity" and on the DataDot National Motorcycle Register.

The RRP price for the kit including Datadot National Motorcycle Registration will be $195.00 inc GST .
We can offer a substantial discount on this price for Motorcycle Club members like yourself, who are prepared to take a PRO-ACTIVE
approach to protecting their pride and joys. Another advantage to having Data Technology fitted to motorcycles is that more and more
Insurance companies are now offering discounts on Insurance premiums if DataDots are fitted, so not only do you sleep easier at night
you can also recoup your initial outlay.
