ive put this here not to bore yas again but to get an idea on numbers interested in booking a braking and cornering course sometime soon, but please read on if ya havnt read this before, any feed back on this topic would be appreciated
Here is a lesson for yall who need it
my bigest fear these days are watching bikes and riders(because they forgot to let go) go bush when all that was needed was:
confidence in yourself,
confidence in your tyres,
DONT look at the tree you think your about to hit, if you keep looking at it you will fucking hit it,
apply rear brake when youve gone in too hot, NOT front,
take corner in the correct gear,
look through the corner, NOT at it,
position yourself on the bike according to the fun level,
and
practise all of the above every time you ride :!:
confidence is gained through learning, practising what you learnt and the knowledge to guide you.
confidence in your tyres you get when you spend the $$$ on the best tyres you can afford, and being aware of how good they perform for the money youve payed.
never look at an object you think your about to hit because you will, wether its infront of you or on the road you will run over it or hit it.
applying your rear brake when cornering not only does it wash of speed but it also helps the bike tuck into the corner when youve gone in too hot or wide.
being in the right gear gives you the bike control needed to get into, around and out of a corner, fuck this up and youll know!
looking through the corner lets you firstly see whats around the corner, see where the corner goes, see whats on the road(sand, gravel,animals...)and see your exit point.
your position on the bike includes your posture, bum positon and weight distribution, foot position and head position, every one of those make huge differences to the handling and the feeling of a bike around a corner, for eg: by not beeing properly seated you will change the angle of the bike when it corners and may even run out of tyres to put to the road because youve had to lean it over too far.
these basic things WILL be what saves your life, limbs and machine,
Q:How many of you riders with less than 4 years experience knew these basic cornering skills?(no need to answer just something to think about)
good on you if you did, shame on you if you didnt :!:
the reason i only asked for the under 4 year was because the majority over that would have learnt the hard way, or attended a road craft Cornering and Braking Course.(1 can only hope!)
weve all been talking lots about what to wear and what not to wear on a bike, how about what to learn and what not to learn :?:
 if any of this is news to ya, do yourself, your family, your girlfriend or boyfriend, your mates, your boss, infact do everyone a favour and book yourself in to do a BRAKING AND CORNERING COURSE NOW :!:
for those of you who have just brought or are about to buy their first bike, allow yourself enough money for at the very least a road craft course or a braking and cornering course!
personnaly this should be the law :!:
I am going to make some calls regarding info on these courses as i am not realy up to speed with who does what and when here in WA.
once i know i will let you all know!
if anyone has info, names or point of contact details, etc, send them to me please i will speak with them and see what they can do for group bookings
and finaly practice, every time you go out for a ride be it to work, to a mates place, to scabs, where ever, practise all the above mentioned, see the difference one little thing makes, one little adjustment makes, youll be suprised, just go out there and understand the physics of motorcycling and you will be a much happier and satisfied customer i promise
cheers, my 2c worth :!:
stay upright yall and lets educate ourselves,
Gonz.
