Nah, they recon mechanical problem started it but nobody has it on film. Not even a track side amateur!

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

Taken from the MotoGP website..... dated 14/4/03

Well-wishers continue to hold out hope for Kato

The MotoGP community continues to hold out hope for Daijiro Kato, who remains in coma one week after his tragic crash at the Suzuka Circuit. Honda´s Japanese website has reported that they have received more than 4,600 messages from well-wishers around the world, whilst here at motograndprix.com the total has soared to over 1,500.

Members of the MotoGP paddock have also been expressing their solidarity with the former 250cc World Champion, including Ducati rider Loris Capirossi and Fuchs Kawasaki Team Manager Harald Eckl. `We had a dream debut with our bike but our excitement was completely overshadowed by what happened to Kato,´ said Capirossi. `He is in bad shape but we are all thinking about him and we hope he will show signs of improvement in the next few days.´ Meanwhile, Eckl added: `It is a sad time for motorcycle sport. We are all thinking about Daijiro and his family and we are praying for a miracle.´

Kato has shown no major signs of improvement since his pulse and heartbeat stabilised at the end of last week.

            Kato loses fight for life

            Kato loses fight for life
            April 20, 2003

JAPANESE motorcycle star Daijiro Kato has died in a Tokyo hospital after failing to recover from injuries sustained in the Japan Grand Prix on April 6, a statement from his team said.

Honda rider Kato, 27, suffered serious injuries to the head, chest and neck when he spun off into the tyre barrier before the chicane leading to the home-straight on the third lap in the race on the team's home track of Suzuka.

Kato's 990cc machine crashed into a barrier and the rider was thrown back on to the track with his face down.

Kato, who leaves a wife and two children, won the 250cc world championship in 2001 and stepped up to the premier class in 2002 to finish seventh overall.
