  • Post Stack it advice

Hi all, I've only just registered on this forum but have been looking at it for a few days now. You all seem like pretty experienced riders so I thought you might be able to help me out with some advice. I've had my 250 bike license for a few years but I stacked my bike a couple of years ago and haven't been able to ride since. I really want to start riding again and eventually upgrade my license, but I find I'm really lacking in confidence now as it's been so long since I've ridden. Is it worth paying to have lessons to regain my confidence or should I just save up until I can afford my own bike? What is the best way to go about it?

    Welcome aboard dude

You need to get on a bike again.. how did you come off before? as someone who has come off a bike a few times  (i know some of you wont beleive me ) you really just HAVE to get back on, be careful...and go slow, until your confidence comes back.. im thinking that professional lessons could help as they are usually very good teacher's and are used to this sort of thing, it comes down to weather u really wanna ride again or not... i say do it man... confront it...and put it behind you, once uve been on once or twice...you'll never even realise wht the problem was stay safe

      <points up> CAD's right.

Seeing as you are thinking of upgrading your liscence, get your open class learners permit and go for lessons, atleast that way you will maximise your time and money. By all means spend a little time on a 250 first b4 hopping on a big bore.

You'll be fine, the fact that you have found your way here and wrote that post is definately saying something

Why not have one or two lessons? Cant hurt really can it, just go for a spin, I'm sure after the first hour you'll be buzzin again with -the feeling- we all know so well.. I doubt you'll need more than one.

Then you'll be a hermit for ages trying to save up for your own!

        Go for it mate

yeah I agree with Gpx Gal , have a lesson or two once you get your permit and if you enjoy it ( which you will ) keep going until you pass your test then get another bike.Having your R class opens up the choices lots....good luck

Whatever you do, pay attention to what gpx_gal has to say.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on, but thanks to all for the advice and comments. I was also going to ask what is the best 250 to get started on again, but I have just read all the posts in Deza’s Newbie about the best 250 so I’ll save you all the trouble of going through it all again.

don't worry bout it dude. i got cleaned up by a bitch in a ppl mover after i'd had my liscence for a few months (totally not my fault) the bit that pissed me off the most was that i'd just finnished doing the rebuild, respray and the rest on her and had only had it back for a week. i'm with gpx_gal. get u'r R class learners and go for a few lessons to build up ur confidence, i'd skip the 250 stage this time cos there are better bikes out there for "semi-learners" (no offence) than 250ies

Well like everyone says, listen to gpx_gal. I also stacked it big time down on o'reily road which is near O'brian road. My bike was damaged big time but i got back on. It's like falling off a horse and then getting back on. Face your fears mate, and if you can go and do one of em alert school coarses. It'll help the confidence. or even better go for a ride with the guys on the weekends and they will certainly give ya some pointers if you ask them for it.

Do it. Climb back on the beast. Even if you decide further on down the line not to ride any more, you won't have the fear/worrry/what-if dogging ya. & more lessons are a positive in any situation, there's always more to learn.
