  • Still looking for advice

Ive been looking at honda NSR 150's and wanted to know if any of ya blokes had some advice/comments on what thier like and how much they are new?

Heard that they where just as quick as some of the 250's out thier but dont know if that was bullshit..

Bikes im intrested in getting are NSR150. RGV250, CBR250RR thinking of spending 5-7k

    All suggestions welcome 8)

From my limited experience with bikes:

I have a CBR, they rev high and sound great(for a 250) with a roo pipe on. There is a huge CBR 250 following in the eastern states so tech help on http://www.cr-x.org/cbr250/forum/ is very easy to get. I think they look good out of the 250's around.

Don't know too much about the RGV but I know they are quick. I am going to race against 2 of them on Sunday so I will be able to talk to the guys going and see how they handle. They are 2 stroke and very loud.

The NSR's look great but do you really want a 150? If you are commuting then yeah cool but if you are going racing then maybe not.

blah blah blah, if you have the cash then get a cbr of rgv with a race replica paint job, they look pretty sweet and anybody who doesn't know anything about bikes will say "wow what a sic bike" or somthing like that.

yadda yadda yadda and then I had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast.

Yep, the guy that I bought the bike off, bought the can from a wrecker and I don't think he joined it properly so there is a bit of gap between the exhaust and the can, I think the gasket is knacked as well so that wouldn't help, but yeah you can definatley hear me coming

Its good in a way cause usually cagers hear me before they see me so they don't really do anything too stupid until I pass them, handy in peak hour

i would stay away from nsr150...they are made in malaysia and it doesn't truly reflect honda quality.
I think there was a factory recall for them as the engine use to die when held at constant freeway speed for too long.

ahhh ok good to know, i thought thier might be reason why i dont see many NSR's around , thx for the advice all im leaning towards CBR's, but i like the RGV's because the stand out ,but ive had a few looks through the quokka and its seems thier pretty scarce

They are made in Thailand, along with a whole host of other automotive products (Honda Accords, Holden Rodeos, Toyota Hilux pickups, BMWs, Mercedes...... it's a long list) and the quality is fine. You get stung in Oz though, they are about 65/70,000 baht in Thailand from memory (AUD 2,200 approx)

They are considered to be pretty cool here

I had a 96 RGV 250 for my first bike. Fast off the line and so quick around corners. Maintainence can be expensive if you are going to travel high miles on them, power valves in the exhaust need to be removed and de-carboned every 3-5000k's, if you dont they are worth $220.00 each (times 4 valves=$880.00 thankyou mister suzuki) plus the piston that they fuck when they fail.
RGV will beat the CBR in every way possible except the noise (unless your are like me and love the sound of a screamin' two stroke).
I bought mine from a bike shop for $5800 and sold it after rebuilding the engine, due to the aforementioned exhaust valve failure, for $5,500.
Word of caution, if you are a new rider with no experience, treat the RGV with respect.

Also should consider the Aprillia RS250, just an RGV engine in an Italian chassis, better suspension etc (not that the average joe needs it on an RGV), some can be had for around $7000

Happy ridin' what ever you buy

Yeah I love the look of them myself. Not sure about that top speed from only a 125cc two stroke though? Being only 125cc, is it likely to keep up at all with any of the ZX2R/CBR/Across etc bikes, even with the kick of the two stroke?

There was one for sale in the Quokka I think about 2-3 weeks ago for a little over 6k. Anyone know what happened to it? I've since lost the paper and can't find out any more info on the sale...

Can I ask why youve limited the choice to those three ?

The ZX2R, GPX, ZZR, RS are all good bikes too.

What do you want in a bike .?? Look good ? go fast ? full faring ?

This is what you REALLY want.!!

Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

                        [size=18]WOW Hewie, that's an awsome looking 2fiddy.

I don't suppose it was for sale if someone who was looking for a 250 would be interested in buying?
