  • I can't fuggin win!

Well I have decided I hate CBR1000's with a passion.

My first one lasted all of a month before it developed a starting problem that couldn't be resolved so even though it was out of warranty the bike shop took it back(thanks guys).

I very stupidly decided to trade it in on a later model CBR1000. Now after a month the head gasket has shit itself.

I would love to know wtf I am doing wrong. The bike receives constant maintenance, it never goes over 8,000 rpm and spends most of its live at aout 4000.

Both bikes were less than 50,000ks

I should have stuck with the air cooled Gixxer.

Lets not even mention the cost of Honda parts. (BTW thanks Dave for getting me those good prices, but now I think it will have to wait).

Does anyone know if the head gasket is available seperatly or do I have to buy an entire(and very expensive gasket kit).

Also are there thinner copper head gaskets available for this heap of shit?
You put the c*nt in country run

You should definately be able to get the head gasket seperate.
I'd find out why the head gasket has blown before increasing the load on it with a thinner gasket.
With my GSXR the head gasket is three leaves so I split it and left out the centre leaf. I also left out the base gasket for a calculated 13.05:1. Use Hylomar to glue everything back together. Be aware that higher compression _will_ make the engine run hotter. Also, I had to drill the top engine mounts as the head now sits 0.55mm lower down.

      Painfull isn't it.

Heres hoping there is some light at the end of that CBR trouble tunnel

Hopefully you will get a good run before the XXX/XXX shits itself which is a very typical Honda thing

I think this is the problem! You need to bounce the needle of the limiter more often. Makes the engine stronger, much like when we play sport and exercise.

Staying around 4000rpm will see your engine get fat and lazy, naturally the head gasket will go beacuse its no longer 1000cc but 1050cc, think of it as going to the next hole on a belt.

So take your engine for some really good exercise 2 times a week and it will all be sweet

Meh, sorry perhaps I should take the medication they give me!
        Will you insure me?!

50,000 k's is alota k's for a bike too. U gota expect a few probs.

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

The annoying thing is that I've only just found PSB and I've been dying to go for a ride with you guys, but everytime something has always come up at the last moment!

Yeah, expect a few problems after 50,000 but mind you, my SP-1 is just over 40,000kms and i've only just experienced it's first real problem (other than bald tyers). A minor electrical problem has come up but other than that, she's still running sweet and smooth.
