Living out in the sticks, it doesnt take lon to accumulate a veariety of rare and endangered bug brains splattered accross my Jacket.

What the best thing to do to clean it.

is it ok to remove the crap with a damp sponge? coz on the label it says "DO NOT CLEAN WITH WATER" but how the hell else am i ment to clean it.

      Hey TRX

Yeah I just used a damp sponge to get the crap off of mine. However, if you haven't already done so, I would put some leather protectant on it.

The best stuff I was told to use was a wax called EFFAX LEATHERBALM - the only place I know to get it is EUROPA (a horse riding store) on Great Eatern Highway, Midland. It is $20.00 for 500ml tub.

I was told it's better than the spray cans because you can rub the wax into the stitching of the jacket etc. Makes sense to me.

Anyhow, I've still got 3/4 of a tub left after doing my suit, gloves and boots, so I expect to be able to use it for a few years. With 2-3 coats on each article - basically until the leather can't absorb anymore of the stuff. Just use a clean dry cloth to apply.

      Cheers

I normally just use a damp cloth and then wipe off any excess water with a dry cloth afterwards.

I gave up on trying to use sponges, just too spongy to move some of those heavy duty encrusted bugs and miscellaneous entrails.

One thing to watch with dubbin and "snow seal" (a bee's wax alternative that apparently doesn't rott the stitching like dubbin can does) is that your jacket will not look the same colour.

Did mine, and the colour reminds me of a pair of shoes! (no longer the nice grey leather colour it was b4 :evil

Oh, make sure the jacket is HOT, seriously hang it out in the sun. Applying as much as the jacket can take is one thing, but remember its not a quick job to get it off. Not to mention having a sticky jacket for a few days. And yes, in its sticky state you may find yourself attracting all manner of dirt, pollen etc.

My jacket (dainese) absorbed hardly any of the "conditioner" I applyed, so go easy the first time, and if you feel you want to put more on then do so another time. Its not a quick job either, not to mention buffing it all off

Im still spewing over the colour and shiny finish my jacket now has, what ever you get, try it on a place that wont be noticed and see if your happy with how it comes out before spreading it all over your jacket.

                that why said neutral dubbin.

i like the smell of dubbin.

i wonder if the trick of melting the polish would work

i just wipe it down with damp cloth, and everry month or soe give it a qucick going over with the dubbin.

Maybe you need a bigger screen for the bike.

Get something like this from the wreckers.....and slap on a coat of red.
