tyre split

only got a new front tyre a while ago and there is still allot of meat left on it but i have seen a crack develop around the whole tyre ( i am getting this fixed first thing monday) but i have never seen this before... has this happend to anyone else, and whats the cause. just gets to me that its 170 for a new tyre that i have to replace already

Michelin racing 70/120.
I spoke with the dude at the honda shop where i got it and he said that if i did not mind spending the money on the tyre this was the best. sticky all round etc he told me... i was freaked to see a huge split on it.

if the tyre is not that old and they suplied it take it to them and get them to replace it under warrentee . old tyres may split as the tyre gets old and wetherd they get hard and can split .

Definately hit them for a warranty replacement... if they push back - ask them to call their tyre rep while you wait. Do not offer to pay for tyre nor fitting. The tyre wholesaler should cough up for the labour and the tyre.

Ask for Eddie (if it's Midland, as the name suggests) if things don't go your way - he's a great guy IMO and won't let a tyre get in the way of good customer relations.

split in centre of tyre doing a complete 360

I'd be demanding a new tyre no matter how old it is!.. Talk about a defect!

^^^ A similar pattern was seen on a rear pilot power on a recent country run.
Wasn't cracking, but appeared as a visible seam running around the whole tyre.
