  • Changes you'd like to see in motorcycle-related laws in WA.

    Hiya. What regulations would you like to see tweaked/introduced/abolished to make motorcycling in WA more attractive/bearable? Suggestions?

    None. Are you thinking splitting for example? at less than 20kph? Bike specific laws will be used against us. Not for us.

      I have no specific proposal, the question is more about easing current proscriptions that you find irksome and unnecessary. Any spring to mind that would warrant review and possible tweaking?

        * Parking rules (footpaths/using car bays/etc).

        * Filtering/Splitting - make legal when cars are stationary, not when they are moving - just some simple clarity that all can (choose to) abide by and (choose to) enforce.

        * Clarify helmet legalities - Sticking cameras to helmets, which helmets are legal (AS/ECE etc), tinted visors.

        * Enforce excessive noise rules - I have never seen a Harley pulled over for noise, yet nearly EVERY Harley would exceed legal limits.

        To start....

          * Parking rules (footpaths/using car bays/etc). Don't hold much hope given even Melbourne that allows footpath parking is introducing restrictions

          * Filtering/Splitting - make legal when cars are stationary, not when they are moving - just some simple clarity that all can (choose to) abide by and (choose to) enforce. Even worse than the current eastern states rules

          * Clarify helmet legalities - Sticking cameras to helmets, which helmets are legal (AS/ECE etc), tinted visors. This one could use some clarification more so than any "new laws"

          * Enforce excessive noise rules - I have never seen a Harley pulled over for noise, yet nearly EVERY Harley would exceed legal limits. As would a lot of sportsbikes, especially Ducatis etc with Termi exhausts, etc. Hell I reckon the dry clutches on some Ducatis would be close to being too loud

          To start....

            Totally agree with parking rules. Melbourne is great.

            Splitting? Be careful what you ask for. Stop start freeway splitting means you will be legal one moment, illegal the next. Regardless if it becomes legal to stationary split or 20k's.

            Under current traffic act and regs you can safely work through traffic.

            Impose a law and you will be forced to join a queue.

              Allow us to add a 1 in front of any posted speed limit.

              Failing that, considering we have 1/2 as many wheels we should be allowed to do double any posted limit.
