  • Serious question here..... SP-1 to CBR600RR

Something I've been thinking about for a little while.
I love, totally adore, my SP-1. Never had a better bike. But since the 600RR has come out I've actually been thinking about downgrading. I haven't taken one for a ride yet, gonna ring the lads at Causeway see if I can take one out and do the run with it.

What do you guys reckon? Would you downgrade to a 600 from what you've got?

Sure Campo.. I'd downgrade from my cbr 250 to a cbr 600rr
Unfortunately I can't really help you out with this one, but I think it's all in personal choice. The new CBR 600RR looks to be a brilliant bike, but I do think you will miss the extra horsies
Right now Im having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think Ive forgotten this before.

yeh i'd downgrade to a honda from a kwaka ... i'd miss the power of my 250 tho ..

      seriously .. why ??
Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

I'm askin cause the difference in performance, plus the 600RR will be so much better for the track. I wanna get into some serious track days. The SP kicks ass on the road and I go nuts in the corners but just thinking what I could do on the 600 if I can go this hard on the SP-1.

I'm not into going fast in a straight line, anyone can do that, it's about corner speed and getting that knee down.

If cost comes into it then yeah, I'll definatly think about it cause an SP-2 is gonna cost me a fortune!

          when r u thinking of doing this??? is there a 04 600RR coming ...

as chookie said u'd prolly miss the horses ...

however ... they are prolly heaps cheaper than a new sp2 ..and from all reports they are a fully sik bike for racing on ... esp on some super sticky tyres .... (and u gotta love that centre up exhaust)

Maybe mid to late next year. I gotta keep the SP-1 for a while so yeah, give it 12 to 18 months. See how the R&D goes for the 600RR and see what's coming out next year.....

One is price and two, it'll be to gutsy for the track. I haven't really done track days and I know that one of the best bikes to do a decent track day on is a 600. Mainly for cornering and gearing, they'll do best around the track plus the fun factor is pretty huge. I also know there's not as much chance of coming unstuck for someone as inexperienced as I am on the track.

On the road, well thats a completely different story!

Never been a huge fan of the Kwaka mate, sticking with the Honda, just a personal pref, besides with Honda, Pete and the boys can help out with just about anything

                              SP1 VS CBR600RR

                              Campo,

Have you ever ridden your Sp1 or a Twin for that matter around Wanneroo?

You mention fun factor re; 600 at Wanneroo.

As an owner of a Twin you should realise corners are what Twins are made for and the last time I looked at Wanneroo there were plenty of them and not many straights.

I think you would be surprised to see how well your Sp1 would go up at Wanneroo.

Just ask Steve FORD (Owner/Director - Causeway Honda) V-Twin Champ 1997 VTR 1000F

Chad Peters (Honda Shop) Both ex Vtr 1000F and Sp1 Rider.

The new 600RR is awesome, the best 600 I have ever ridden but it is still a 600 that must be kept up in the upper rev range to get the most out of it.

Your Twin on the other hand has torque, torque, torque.

Steve on his VTR back in 97' was lapping 1 sec quicker a lap than the current 600RR's are doing at Wanneroo today.
