  • Motorbike Accident

Motorbike accident on stirling Highway about 4:00pm today. Was wondering if the rider is ok. Black Honda Sports bike.

Hi guys, that was my bother in law. He is ok, only had a few scratches and a sore knee. He will be in hostpital overnight for observation. Luckily nothing was broken.

I would like to say thanks to the lady who pulled over and offered assistance.

We had just finished a river run and then split up to go our own way. I didn't find out about the accident until I got home. Basically a car turned in front of him at an intersection. Bike is probably a write-off.

Yes that was I. Heading straight on Stirling Hwy. Was off the throttle approaching intersection. Saw 4wd thinking whether he should turn or not. In the end he decided to turn as I was going through lights. Emergency break. Ran into his back left. Flipped over. Landed on left shoulder. Nothing broken except a very sore left shoulder and left knee. Waiting for xray results to come back for knee.
Driver said he didn't see me. I was travelling about 55-60kmh.
Very lucky not to have done any further damage.
      Staying overnight in Charlies.
Bike is probably gone. Lucky for insurance and protective gear!

And thanks to all the people that assisted at the scene (coppers and ambulance people).
I'll be back on the road soon hopefully on a new bike.

          bugger!

Glad to hear you're ok. Make sure you do the 3 important pieces of paperwork to cover your arse:
          - police report
          - insurance claim
          - claim for medical expenses from insurance commission.

lucky you....for being in one piece and for insurance and safety gear....

            I got a question tho!
I surfed heaps, then I had an off...couldnt find up...eventually found air... went home in shock ...had a few..nah, lots of beers -and couldnt go out for ages after that.

Even now when I go out, Im careful and the conditions have to be right... you know.... off shore, 1-2m swell.....nice and handle-a-ble....

Im kinda scared of my first off on the bike... thats why I WILL NEVER HAVE ONE.... he he he..aaaaah, the power of positive thinking

            oops, there was no question

I hope they're looking after you at Charlies tonight.
Very glad you came out without too much damage to yourself.
Sorry to hear the bike might not make it though.
                  All the best!

I'm happy to hear that he is ok. Same thing happened to me today, but i managed to stop in time. Man if i had gone a bit faster things may have been different.

Hopefully he's knee will get better soon

This is actually my 2nd off. First time was in the first week of getting my 250 bike 6 years ago. Since then I try to be super careful but you can only control what you can. It's external factors like other drivers on the road you can't control.

The accident occurred right in front of the police station so all the reports have been done. Just need to notify insurer.

Anybody know if protective apparel is covered under bike insurance?

Depends on your policy. Who are you with?

I think he's trying to ask if its hard to jump back on a bike after such an accident. My answer would be that it is personal. Totally depends on the persons out look on life. All you can do is try.

Glad to hear the rider is fine. All the best with recovery.
