  • Brown?!! automotive colour crimes..

    Whilst reading this..

We'll admit, our first reaction to seeing the not-for-the-USA 2010 Honda CB1000R was, "WTF, beige?!" (Yes WTF indeed?) But after looking at the pictures, we think we actually really like it. (no we don't ) Various shades of brown are a resurgent trend in the car industry (for the love of God why?!?) -- witness the brown Porsche Panamera (argghhh) -- where they lend a classy, restrained feel to wild-looking vehicles. Beige has the same effect on the CB1000R. Where brightly-colored versions look a little piecemeal, the "Matt Vanguard Beige Metallic" paint emphasizes the bodywork's crisp lines, makes the bike look like more of a cohesive whole and elevates it from just another disposable Japanese motorcycle into being a credible luxury good. Nice one Honda. (Bad Honda! *smacks nose with rolled up newspaper*)
FFS Brown. Cars should never be brown or any other green than British racing green and Orange is just flirting with danger.

3-5 years ago most people had the same reaction to white, now it's hugely back in vogue.

I don't mind beige or brown on the right vehicle.

    Bad:

(not completely horrid, Porsche had lots of other worse colours in the 70's)

    Good:

    (ugly car, nice colour)

(add a little red, and bam! you have a winner)

Biege don't you mean jewish racing gold? Dunno how many going to regret the purple crummydoor SS they have sitting the drive and didn't the VT burnt orange colour get dropped like dogs balls at the rspca. Its only a Honda biege is just bringing out the manufacturers true artistic direction. Topgear (UK) were whining about a Ferrari F430 because its tyling was bland, the [email protected]#$er was powder baby blue who the hell buys a powder baby blue Ferrari or maybe they gave it to top gear in hope they would crash it as no one was ever going to buy it. What gets e is the convaluted names they manage to come up with thier crap colours "Matt Vanguard Beige Metallic" why not call it biege we couldn't be arsed clear coating over although I can't talk one of my bikes colour is listed as Bright Black but there are no drugs in art!

^^ No for that crime you can only be judged by a higher being.

but in the mean time youv'e have raised the ire of the fashion police automotive division.

Lambos have always had funky colours, Ferrari haven't.

I've heard a red Ferrari is worth $10-20k more than another colour after 5-10 years. Black and yellow aren't too bad, but anything else can be hard to sell second hand.

Almost a fair point about British racing green Millsy but you are forgetting the Barracuda.

It takes a special type of car to pull it off... The general masses cannot and should not.

Oh come on, its not like its mission brown, its more like a champagne beige.
FWIW, I think it looks kinda striking, a little different. Thumbs up to Honda for trying something new, colour wise. I like it.
