  • Bike transport to/from Sydney

Can anyone recommend a freight company to transport my bike to and from Sydney?

Yes, I'd love to ride all the way there and back but a) I don't have the spare time and b) flights are booked and paid for.

    Thanks.

Cant recomend a company, but if you strap it into a bike box (get one from a dealer), dont say its a bike, just an X x Y x Z sized box, weighs 200kg, will be a heap cheaper than a bike transport company.

First post????? Oh hello.... and you are.....?
Try SEARCH.... simple concept.....many results.....or simply put some stamps on it and take to PO. They'll do the rest.

then ring a furniture removalist company and see if they have room in a container going your way ^_^

I had a VFR800 shipped from Brisbane to Perth (one-way only) and after hunting all around the cheapest was AutoTrans (Part of Toll).

I'd heard bad things from some others, but after having had a chat to them, I was prepared to give it a go.

Couldn't have been better really. Bike was dropped off at their depot and I picked it up here ten days later. $770 against $970 for the next cheapest.

The bike was under cover for the whole trip and arrived here unblemished. It picked up more dirt on the ride home than the whole trip.

A return trip to Syd might be quite attractive since not much goes from the West, so rates may be more attaractive.

I recently used Bikes Only (Bikes Only - Specialists in Motorcycle Shipping and Transport), awesome service and very reliable with their ETA, made my transaction very smooth.

Have transported 2 bikes. First one went into the container with the furniture when I moved from Sydney to Perth. They were happy enough to have a bike in the container as long as I drained the fuel tank.

When I bought the new one, the dealership in QLD arranged the transport from Maroochydore to Perth for $600 dollars door to door. They had planned to put it in a crate and into a container but after a week of waiting, they still didn't have a crate the right size so they put it in a Bikes Only truck for the same price.

Dealers can get much better rates if you know one or are willing to negotiate a win/win deal. (ie $100 cash to a dealer who saves you $500)

Failing that, there are probably a few people around on various forums around the country who would love to do a "delivery" ride for the cost of a one way flight and fuel.

                Hope this helps
