  • No more FZ6 Yamaha has pulled the plug.

    Was just cruising around the internets and found out that Yamaha have now removed the FZ6 from their 2010 line-up. Seems it has now been replaced by a full faired version FZ6R. Theres even talk of them scrapping the FZ6 entirely over the next couple of years to leave only the FZ1.
    Yamaha have also reserved FZ8 as a name, possible new model? So far the only information I have gleaned is from American Websites, not too sure of the outcome in Europe and Aus. Surprising because i've heard the FZ6 was/is very popular in Europe

      hmmm would be hard to trade my fz in but for this possible 750 version maybe
      i think im gonna get nos so it would have to be good. plus there would be no parts to swap from the r series bikes.
      IM ALWAYS ON THE EDGE, ITS ONLY THE SHARPNESS THAT VARYS

        I figured that would happen considering the XJ models are very similar in terms of basic design, ie naked/semi faired, mid sized engine etc.

          I dont mind the look of the full faired version, looks somewhat similar to Kwakkas 650R ninja

              The 2010 model for the Yamaha R1 and Honda CBR1000RR arn't looking too appealing imo..
              Also, much prefer the look of the 2008/09 FZ6s than the proposed '10 FZ6R's

                  The yamaha apparently will only make something between 75-80hp (engine retuned from a previously generation r6 or something) 210kg wet

                  The ninja makes 70hpish, same torque as the yamaha, but weights 178 dry...
                  0.75x15= 11.75kg. = the 650r is 190kg wet.

                  I would definitely take the ninja before the yamaha.( to be honest I like the ninja styling more)

                    190 + 90 (kitted up rider) -> 70/280 = 0.25hp/kg
                    210 + 90 -> 75/300 = 0.25hp/kg

                    If stat sheet fapping was all that important (plus the Yamaha has sports style single coil rear)...

                    Anyway, I think it's a shame they're not going to release a naked version, as I thought the FZ-6N was a really nice looking bike, and the sort of thing I'd be going for if nakeds were my thing. All things being equal (ride position, power), I tend to think the naked bikes look better than the faired ones (ride position and power being the reasons I prefer sportsbikes).

                      I can't see the point of detuning the motor further.

                      It's not that bad, wouldn't mind seeing a fz1R.

                        Yamaha have registered the name "fz8" as a trademark, so although that is not conclusive, expect to see a 750-800 model. As it stands, the fz6 and fj6 are just too close to each other in spec to justify producing both models.

                            FZ8 please!
                            FZs are good looking bikes, nice option for the people who dont like the sports riding posture.

                              So what happens to the XJ6S ??? Isnt this the same sort of bike

                              The FZ6 had Aluminuim Frame and this new bike will have steel like the XJ6S
