  • Cannonball run claims it's first car

FORMER Fremantle Docker Matthew Carr is the first driver to have his car impounded by police on the new Perth to Bunbury Highway.

Carr was caught driving a Holden Commodore without a licence at 5.45pm yesterday near Lakelands.

He is the first person to have his car confiscated by police on the new $700 million highway, which opened yesterday.

Police media spokesman Sgt Graham Clifford said Carr’s vehicle has been confiscated for 28 days.

Carr’s licence was under suspension for loss of demerit points.

thanks ZY for your clarification, but it needs to be read in conjunction with Bendito's post, this was the question posed.

"Hmm ... no licence ... I'd best stick to the quiet backstreets where there's no cops ...

"... wow, this road is a decent grade ... well-lit, too ... they don't make old country roads like they used to ..."

I was there when they opened it to traffic yesterday (stuck in a big fukn queue just trying to get to Mandurah near Safety bay Rd).

They had five XR6 Turbo Highway cars and two squaddies just waiting to start patrolling the new stretch....what idiot seriously decides to give it a shot on the first day of opening in a car???

Particularly an AFL player in a car - we all know that they can't drive.

The cops told EVERYONE they were going to hit that highway hard when it opens.
Whose up for some highspeed runs tomorrow?..Surley they wont patrol it 2 days in a row....

the post makes no mention that he was speeding
its possible they pulled him over for something else or they were pulling over everyone
he got done cos he was driving without a license

                              but still, its kinda funny
