  • ZX-7R colour codes?

Does anyone know how to get the colour codes for a 98 Kwaka ZX-7R? It's the red and purple colour scheme. I'll need a litre of red because I need to paint the two side fairings but just a small amount of purple to repair chips and scratches with an airbrush.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Scott.

Hey thanks heaps Potato. Can do. I'm not out that way very often but any excuse for a ride is a good one I see you have the VRT advert under your page. I went on the last VRT track day. What a hoot! I just got back from the Perth Bike Show full of inspiration and ideas...... The trouble with me is I keep buying bikes to modify but they end up being too good to make changes to so I restore them instead.
        Thanks again mate

u wont need a litre of red to paint 2 side fairings. Half of that will be more than enough.

Quite right Mr Mike. I didn't think I would be able to buy it in smaller amounts. I thought I would have to buy a liter of purple too even though I really only need it for touch-ups. I guess I'll just have to ask if the paint shop would sell me 500mls. I'll have a look at that link now 19andrew59. Thanks.
Well,I just had a look at that link and I love it!!! I wish I knew about that page earlier! The colour sounds right for the purple, listed as Jet Ski Purple but the red is listed as Candy Persimmon Red (Factory Variance Color). Mine is a blood red and not what I would call a candy colour but maybe it's called candy, but not really what we know as a candy colour. If anyone can verify that colour for me, I would be grateful. It's for a 1998 (on the compliance plate, but the red and purple was a 97 scheme) Kawasakii Ninja ZX-7R. The red and purple colour scheme. Thanks again Andrew, that site was great for this bike and for my others in the shed!

                ok, i'll fess up

                ive a spectrophotometer

                wtf is that?

it takes images of painted surfaces ,then links into a database of just about every car/bike/machinery colour world wide and gives the code up per the sample.

i dont sell paint,i wont make paint up for you. you cant use the paint i use in your back shed

those spectro's are not cheap, the cost of the unit runs into the thousands

still want a near as dammit code for your colour?

$55 inc gst for the reading , no it wont predict your future eftpos available

                bookings essential !

its pretty much bang on, ppg's one is hell hit and miss.

ive used s&s's one with spies and never had a prob,[musta been u being slack ] there's always a drop of something needed, usually to age the paint, you know , a drop of fade rite in the colour?

I was going to touch it up but I've decided to just repaint the whole thing. Wheels and fairings. The fairings are off now anyway as I just started polishing the frame. I want to polish the wheels but just repaint the spokes. I'm really tempted to just go a different colour altogether. I loved the metallic green of the Kwaka Z1000 at the show, but I'm a stickler for originality so I'm fighting the 'should I restore it or should I go custom' demons. I'm planning on polishing the rims and getting some braided lines so I guess that has nearly answered the debate for me.
