  • About our Bush Rides

I thought I'd better inform you all a little about our bush rides.

First and upmost, its about having fun with others, who like going for a ride (Quick or Slow) away from the city traffic.

I have my favourite run, that being up through Jarrahdale, were traffic is low and road conditions are good, there is little to no side roads which is good, this keeps unwanted surprises down! This part of our jurny starts with long straights and sweepers (good for warming you up for the day).

Then we take the scenic dam route, this becomes a slower run with some tighter corners (not to mention a couple of OFF's on a tight right hander). This road can be a little bumpy so caution should be given. Once past the dam we shoot off to North Dandalup, this road is also wide and smooth for the first 15 to 20Km but the last 10km is the worst you will see all day, the road becomes quite tight with pee gravel in the middle, and serious caution must be used (If you stay between the middle and the centre white line you will experience NO problems) Ride within your limits!!!
Once we get to the South West HWY, its a steady run to North Dandelup, 10Km of straight road.

Now the real FUN starts as we head up to Dwellingup, This road is quite clean and tight and twisty and runs up and down a few hills. The best thing about the part of the trip, big is not always the best, if your bike handels well you will be fine, there are not too many straights so top speed is not an issue. But as always ride within your limits, we always waite for everyone (head count).
Once at the top we will all have to fuel up, and like always SMILES all round!!
From this point we will head off to Quindanning pub, this road suits the big bore bikes, there no hassels sitting in top gear while pushing rev limiter, for my 600 its bouncing off the rev limiter. the roads are very smooth and wide and the corners are long sweeping bends (Fucken Awesome ), but like always Ride within your Limits!!
Once we get to the turn off to the pub, its a steady trip. roads are narrow and at times you can not see what is behind the next bend, slow up!

Once at the pub, pretty hard to shut everyone up! No complaints from anyone and once again smiles all round (good to see). After lunch and a drink (cool drink) we are off to Pinjarra and the Old Bunbury Rd.
This road is another work of art! Nice and wide, smooth as with long sweeping bends that tighten up as we go along (mint )
From there we head off home though baldivis and then onto Freeway.

The day would constist of 450 to 500km and 6 to 61/2 hours, and its all about having fun.
We always waite at turn off's for every one, no one gets left behind.
Note this is not a race track, but at the same time do as you wish but RIDE WITHIN YOUR LIMITS please!!!
I don't know anyone that has not enjoyed this trip, and its good experience for you and your bike, From Gixxer 1000 to a GPX250 its about you and your bike and a nice day out with friends 8) 8) 8)

At some stage this summer give it ago, I will be trying to organise 1 ride per month at least.

For those who have done this Bush Run feel free to express your views and any input you think that would make it better! 8)

    Thanks.

i like the idea.....the more you do the same run the more u get used to it...........therefore the faster and more confident you get and the easier you can build up your skills...........iot's better/easier to build up your skills on the same roads (so u can get familiar/used to them) you start to learn the bends and bumps and i can't wait for the next one calvin.......whatever is on i'll be there!!!!!!

As a general note, this has happened on a few non-PSB organised rides I have been on and is something I would hope anyone organising or attending a country/significant run would keep in mind (thought this would be a good place to mention it, sorry for stealing your thread):

Please, when waiting for the 250s, make sure you give them a little time to streatch their legs and clean the crap off their visors as well. Sometimes it is a case of wait for them to catch up, then move off again without letting them have a break  The inexperianced do fatigue quicker and need a break too.

Calvin, your country runs rule! Definatley a great day to be had by all, big and baby bore alike. Frequent stops and info about the ride ahead - I am sure your comments have saved many a person from binning it.

The GPX and the gal loved the trip!! Will come out again soon for sure!!

it is a definate must do. i started the day a bit aprehencive cause i hadent done a bush run for a while and didnt know the roads. not to mention a 5 minutes before we left i was forced to clean 3 inches of chain lube off my rear tire. this made me a bit out of sorts to start. but great run down of the roads and the conditions of each leg of the run from calvin. i started getting my confidence back. by the third leg i was hitting the corners faster then i ever had before and feeling comfortable. this is when i started to catch up.
i learnt heaps on this day about myself and my bike and i have no doubt i still have a ton more to learn.

              a definate must do....

Definately, ride at your own limits!!!!!!

Would have to be the best advice, but would also love to see different bikes out there and rider skill so we can all pick up or give some hits and tips

like we said, ride at your own limits. If we are out in front and get there before you, good chance if u have never done one before, we will waitfor you no probs at all.

Saturday was the hardest ihave ever ridden my SP since i had got it too but the advantage I had over most is that i knew those roads well as they are all around my area.

havinig said that, i had never ridden them as hard as that and so they take on a whole new perspective.

Come along though Jazza u will really, REALLY enjoy it.

                      country rides

Does anyone ever take a pillion with them? Mrs is thinking about hopping on the back. Is a pretty long ride but we are on a 'sports tourer'. How sore is she gonna be? Any thoughts?

I can vouch for that boxhead. I have never been on a bush ride before that OR ridden that hard! I found by sticking with-in eye site of the rider in front of me I could use their line through the corner. This was actually easier for me also as a guide to what speed to be doing into the corner also. that's not to say that I didn't miss the odd heart beat or two wondering if I had overcooked it on a couple of the bends.

Bigbird bought a pillion on the run we did when Firestorm decided to speed up his need for a trade in, she did ok for the distance we did, just gotta go a little easier but yeah, take her along!

Cops would not even see what colour our bikes where i think man so eh

Pillion would be ok but if u want to have a bit of a go well the I would suggest u probably try to leave her at home, easier said than done i know but.....
