  • track tyres

was just wondering what tyres are the go for the track day. i've decided on getting a pair dedicated to the track and keeping the stock tyres for the road. everyone that i've asked the question tells me "supercorsas are the shit mate". problem with that is they are not being imported here any more and i can't get hold of a pair...

the 208's on the cbr were spinning up waaaaaay too much for my liking or my skill level last time. calvin, you might be able to help here. i've heard the dunlop 208 GP's are sposed to be pretty good. any advice would be appreciated.

    cheers

the supa corsa are meant to be great .. BUT they are designed for a heavier bike .. not 250s and so dont work as well and dont fit properly 150 being the smallest size..... one size too big for most 250s

i know uve heard this before but go see kamahl at causeway ... ask him about the bridgestone 001 or 012 (i cant remeber which is which)

    next 2c ?
Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

If they are going to be dedicated track day tyres (why?) then get racing slicks Don't beat around the bush
      Will you insure me?!

didn't know super corsa's aren't available. I got a quote for dragon super corsas 2 days ago??
I have a pair of H2 ready for the coming racecraft and PE day, and used dragon super corsas for street. (i don't ride much at all so not worried about the tyre wear) they were race takeoffs anyway.

You could go with M2's...and let us know how they are..

A few tyres ideal for the track:

          Michelin Pilot Sport Race
          Dunlop D207 GP'2
          Pirelli Diabalo Corser

Just comes down to dollars and personal preferance.

Personally I'd go the Pilot Sport Race for a track tyre.

If anyone is interested, I may be able to come up with some of my second hand slicks. Would be ideal for the track day and are still good rubber. PM me and I will organise something, I probably have two sets at home. Say $50 each tyre.

I have diablo corsas on the sp-1 and they are a great tyre…but I’ll be riding the missuses (is that even a word) cbr6rr at the track and don’t want to destroy her tyres…again :? . since they will only be for track use I might as well get the stickiest (ie non road legal) tyres I can get.

i have spoken to kemahl at causeway and chad at the honda shop and they have both told me that you can’t get supercorsas any more. I was thinking of getting slicks but don’t know if I’d go hard enough to keep them working well…I don’t want to look like a poser either

I just decided on the 208 GP’s. will give them a shot and see how they go. cheers for the advice/comments

Poser on slicks? hehe.. u might as well, tho you would need to get tyre warmers or borrow/hire/steal some

If you want to buy good 2nd hand slicks ring Vic at motorcycle Electrics and have a chat to him. He usually has a cpl sets of slicks with shitloads of grip left, and can borrow a set of tyrewarmers.. Good genuine guy over there at Motorcycle electrics so yeah give him a yell for some slicks.

You don't need tyre warmers to use slicks. Just take it easy for a couple of laps to get some heat into them, If you go too hard at the start they will "cold tear". Also you don't need to be Rossi to use slicks either.....

ive got Michellin Macadams on the back, which everyone on the trx850.com forum says is a piece of shit and let go far to easily. Has any one else had porblems with them. If so i might go to a bike shop and see if they've got any bald tyres i could fit for the day.

                    Thoughts?

Had Macadams on the Bird (BlackBird) when I got it and they were great, Aparantly they don't make them any more so now have Michelin Pilot Road on the back and Pilot sport on the front. The Bird is a heaver bike so will have different characteristics (is that spelt right?) to yr 8fidy.

Am getting the same on again for the track day as I love them.

Naturally, u have to buy something Pirelli as the only right thing to do would be support the company that support the riders.

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)
