  • Inspiration for the Honda Fury

Little known fact that has surfaced recently. Long before Honda had designed it's new Fury Cruiser/Chopper, Honda actually commissioned Jesse James to build them a prototype.

Not sure what size engine he used whether it was a 1300 or 1800, but he did turbo charge it before handing it over.

This is one of the very few pictures of the bike, taken obviously while it was in development. Apparently when completed it was painted black, but it was delivered to Honda in secrecy and undercover, and has never been publicly shown or seen since.

Would like to have seen this finished, those "salt flat" style wheels look the business!

What makes chain drive superior for a cruiser?

Allows for a much wider rear tyre, and just looks as tuff as it is

On long rides it doesn't need lubing twice a day,a pain with a touring load and no centre stand, ask the ones who rode to Phillip Island.

                  Chain drive,shaft drive,belt drive,they ll have their good/bad points.

I cant understand why Honda would have to get JJ to build them a bike ,there is about 100 magazines at the stands and god knows how much on the net on how to build a chopper.
Besides,Japan's own Shinya Kimura of Zero Engineering custom bikes run rings around anything JJ built when it comes to originality IMO.
