  • Fine tuning your R1

The R1 is a very popular bike among rider's but have you taken the time to even glance at your suspension setup? or are you riding around on what Yamaha gave you? here a few pointers that might help you on yer way to a nicer/faster ride.

Good suspension is essential on the track but I don't know whether spending 3 or so grand for the road is worth it.

With an 04 R1 on the way I am sure that will stick like shit to a blanket anyway...... but then again with a 150 or so hp at the rear maybe not 8) and before everyone tells me yamaha claim 180 with ram air bla bla chuck it on the dyno first.

Penske make damn good rear shocks as well.

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

for both front and rear will cost you around $4000 retail... i think that is the ball park figure... I would settle for race tech internals though...much more affordable...

zipdrive: I actually thought it would be more? Like another $1k-$2k or so.. I know that the good rear shocks run at least $1500, I would expect you wouldn't get any change out of $3500 for a set of ضhlins forks.

Hell, even ضhlins dampers sell (in at least Australia) for at least $700.. :x

                        yep..probably right...

for $3000USD you can get the forks and a shock...
i guess retail price in Aus would be much more. doh!

i got a quote a couple of months back and a rear ohlins shock was $1600 and the Road and Track forks were $4500, with regular brake mounts (not radial) and the yokes were not made to take the ignition key or anything. they are straight yokes and fork legs. the radial bottoms are an extra $600-800.

This is for th TLR, but i would assume they would be almost the same for all bikes?

mite have to look at the options a bit later at that rate ...

                            bike first ..then bits
