whats a good chain slack setting, manual says 20-30mm on sidestand.....seems fairly tight when i lean my weight on bike ( not even 5 mm play ).....asking your recommendations, with weight on bike or without weight??

    thanks in advance

Like the manual says, on sidestand, 25-30mm play.

It's a one person job so no weight.

Looser is better than tighter within reason but it is calculated to allow for the chain being tight but not too tight with a load on and not end up too loose with the suspension extended bouncing over a speed bump or similar.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

I've never had a drama with following that. I normally have about an inch or so of play. Just readjusted mine tonight actually, and come to think of it I did it on the centrestand... might check how much slack there is when I put it back on the side stand.

thanks heaps sounds reasonable then, and suppose leaning on a bike is always gonna put more weight on it compared to leaning forward with weight on tank in normal riding conditions...hopefully

            Experiment complete.

Difference is illegible on the side stand.
Stood the bike up straight on it's own two wheels and the chain was slightly tighter. That's with a bit of bodyweight on it plus about a carton in the top box.
