I polished the wheels on my Busa and my VTR.

The VTR had the entire wheel polished and the Busa has just the rim, not the spokes.

Upkeep is not a huge drama but requires some effort. I would advise you to think about just getting the rim of the wheel polished and not the spokes as they make it alot harder to keep looking good coz they are bitches to get to to clean etc.

I did my own wheels on the Busa; masking tape, paint stripper, couple of grades of wet and dry and then some autosol. Did it with the wheels on, took all day, looks sweet.

They are easy to maintian as long as they dont get wet. Just wipe em with a cloth and hit em with some autosol when you need to, I do mine weekly but Im anal and must have the cleanest bike in the world. When they get wet they tarnish and require an autosoling to return the shine. Which is why I would not do the spokes coz it makes the job a lot harder.

I wouldnt worry about the clear paint, it would probably gettign chipped and look crap.

hope i have been dull and uninformative

I also polish my own rims....worth the effort i think, not a great deal of upkeep with polished rims... yer looking at around the $440 mark to get them done professionally and yer best bet is Bagby Polisher's in Maddington, and maybe a week turn around time, u can contact Barry on 08 9452 0207 or http://www.bagby.com.au/

what usually happens is you polish the outer rim...and paint the spokes the colour of your choice... in my case... aluminum silver

yeh ive seen bagbys work, on both bike and car wheels, they do a great job, you can drop off and pick up to them either at the shop or in rockingham.
ive got the rims done not the spokes and it take around 5-10min to polish up, and it realy sets my bike off so its well worth the effort

dido on the clear coat, no need!

those discs look like they've been polished too! seems a bit pointless.
i'll be doing my wheels but thats it.
                    the whole wheel tho

                      (expensive)

electromold over east are the ones to speak to bout nickel plating. it's about $1000 a set but they garuntee their work and it takes a lot less to keep them looking good.

does anyone know a good powder coater in perth? cos i really want someone to clear powder coat mine. otherwise i'm not gonna bother polishing it
