  • Coolant gone but no leak?

I got a yamaha r3 second hand, but it only just had its break in service at 1000km. After a morning ride I noticed my coolant reservoir was bone dry! The bikes temperature was in normal range, theres no visible signs of a leak, my oil looks fine, it isnt cloudy or watery looking, theres no smoke or steam coming from the exhaust. I still need to refill the reservoir to see if it was maybe just air in the lines from poor bleeding/burping by the dealer. Which coolant would have been used by the dealer? its green stuff. I dont want to mix brands. I cant ask the dealer because they're closed today and Im not patient enough to wait, worried about my baby. If anyone knows what may cause the drop in coolant levels or which green coolant a yamaha dealer would use (specifically cullys yamaha) that would be a great help.

Seems like R3 coolant leak is common from google

My guess your radiator cap is shot......

Pissed out coolant when running to the bottle then when cooling it sucks everything whats left back.
Or you have a crack in the bottle

If it came with green coolant from the factory then any green coolant is fine 6L nulon green premix is only $25

Either that or go down the bottom of the garden if there's drunken fairies down there it's them the little fuckers will drink anything.
The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

Sounds like it's new enough to still be covered by warranty. Call the dealer and let them / get them to fix it.

Add distilled water if low coolant in res bottle...

R3 forum shows water leaks from hoses.. from Brazil To Wisconsin... you are not alone..

There is some history of head gaskets blowing too.. ' from air left in system from assembly ' would happen in first 50 k's tho..

The overflow on the bottle goes to the ground.

Bad to mix different type/colours, same colour is fine if your that worried about mixing brands dump the whole coolant.

only stain areas where coolant has had a chance to dry/concentrate...so if leaking when riding prolly blown off with the wind?

Check underneath gearbox....hugger inner guard area below water pump... just guessin'

or refer to halo too's post.. " hole in overflow bottle..

I'm curious.... are there any scratches to indicate a drop....??

as has been said top it up and let it run for a bit.....

Not necessarily, might be like cum stains and need a black light once they've dried
