  • Clutch question

Just a quick question about the clutch on the ZX2R ... I don't have any problems with it jumping out of gears (except when I'm lazy and do a woosie gear change) but I have noticed that when I'm sitting at lights, dial up some revs and launch it (as good as a ZX2R can be launched) the clutch seems to slip slightly for a second (I am going forward at ths point) then the clutch fully engages. Since it has a wet clutch i figured that it may be pushing oil out from between the clutch plates for a sec ... is this normal of do I need some work done on it?

Sounds like you need a new clutch after launching your ZX2 too many times.
    If you can... you MUST!

At least pull the clutch plates out to inspect the wear, vernier calipers might help too. But sounds like a new clutch is in order.

I trust you are running it on bike oil and NOT car oil. Because car oil will bugger your wet clutch.

When your hammering along does the clutch slip when changing up the gears ???? To test this maybe try reving it out in say 3rd gear and then changing into 6th and let the clutch out while reving her a bit.....does it slip ????

If so you will be needing a new set of plates and springs (steels too if the're discoloured)..... Easy enough to do yourself if you have a little technical knowledge...Oh and get a new oil filter plus oil and a clutch cover gasket.

        Good luck....
