  • getting bits for the bike

hey i'm getting myself a new bike shortly (GSXR750K3) but i dont take delivery till mid apr :x (going away to the eastern states for a while) i was just wondering where the best place is to go and get some bits for it like a rear hugger and oggy knobs? i hear causeway honda look after guys pretty well, also anyone know any good bike alarms/imobizisers? as apposed to getting the "bike bandit" even tho it sounds very cool is a little out of the price range at the moment?
It was funny, I'm the jester, LAUGH damn U!!

Be aware that the remote start-up function may be illegal. It sounds cool tho.

i really don't give a toss if its illegal, as long as it works then it's fine by me

For bits and pieces try Alan at Causeway Honda or Ralph at Northside Kawasaki. They'll look after you on anything you need.
Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

Would I be right in saying that anything that you have that is illegal on your bike and the insurance company DOESN'T know about it then they won't cover you if you make a claim?
                1, Always look good
2, Always know what you're doing
3, In failure of step 2 refer to step one

Not necessarily, I would think that only if the said "illegal equipment" contributed to the claim.

They couldnt very well refuse a claim because you had a remote starter if someone rear ended you.

Only if someone stole your bike by using the "remote start".

It depends on the circumstances, regardless of what the mods are the insurance company can negate your claim if you haven't declared them; because you have a duty to declare anything they should know about. Even if it's not directly contributing to the accident, they can just shrug their shoulders and say "you didn't declare clear indicator lenses, you're violating the contract, have a nice day". Any loophole they can find to get out of paying you money, they'll use..

I dont want to sound argumentative, but I still disagree. How can they possibly refuse your claim for a stolen bike if you have clear lenses on your bike?

I can understand a refused claim if you got rear ended, because the said illegal clear brake light lenses COULD be argued to have contributed to the accident.

*pulls out jerry can full of petrol*

I dont know if this is the case with all insurers but.

I know of a few guys that modified their cars .... and then had a claim.

The insurers disallowed their claim based on the fact the vehicle was unroad worthy .. the argument being .. if it was road legal then no worries .. as you drove a unroadworthy car on the roads to get to where you were going (it was stolen) then tough.

I think most policies dictate that you must maintain your vehicle in a road worthy and legal state.

So if you modify your car and dont keep it legit then you may not be covered. I would hazard a guess a bike would work on the same lines.

(like warrenty agreements - your only covered if you service the car properly)
