  • Steering Dampers

    Heyall

i'm just trying to get opinions on steering dampners, im looking for one for my new bike, i just bought a 954RR and im decking it out with a few bits, but i cant make up my mind regarding the dampner, i was told hyperpro dampners were pretty good and there is one in stock at the bike shop (hence i dont have to wait weeks for them to get one in), any help would be good, ive never had a dampner before.

I just put a Hyperpro on my 954 and she's the ducks nuts! Works very well and I was suprised how much difference it really does make.
Good value for money and they look pretty sweet too!
    ...having dinner with KARMA tonight...

you need to get the SP of your avater,i like the wheels on the blade, now why would i say that?????? i,ve got a hyperpro damper on the R1.works excellent, just dont like the clicks.im sure everyone who has one will say the same thing.very hard to feel the clicks on it.1-7 feels that it hasnt changed, but when you get to about 9 then you feel the differance.i,ve got a sprint as well, that feels better as you can feel the clicks when your adjusting it,but i like the hyperpro just because it looks better.if your thinking of OHLINS,i would save the money as its most probably more expensive and not any better.do more readups and call me if you want the sprint as it is for sale.

i would stay away from single tube type hyperpro dampers, I have one of them also. If you read up on other bike forums (eg. r1-forum) almost all of the users have complained of leakage, failures, multiple warranty replacements and ineffectiveness.. but like gohan said..they look cool.
mine seems to go off in the heat

spend a $100 more and get ohlins...you see them on motoGP bikes so they must be good. but seriously i think the separate reservoir type work better. in saying that hyperpro did come up with CSC damper which may have fixed all the issues. so if you must get a hyperpro then get the CSC version.

i got it from www.revlimiterracing.com shane (the bloke there) is really helpful and responds to emails pretty quickly

you can also try www.kneedraggers.com or www.ema-usa.com, ema were a couple of bucks cheaper but didn't respond to my emails so i fuct them off. i normally buy all my gear locally but the shops around perth can't even get it wholesale for that much.

I've got the extreme tech steering dampner on my blade and it's been fantastic ! the bike has been really stable under all conditions , over the top of skyline where bike notoriously shake their heads and putting the front wheel back down at slightly higher than the legal speed limit and the bike has been nothing but stable ! I'm about to trade my bike in the next few weeks so if anyone is interested in it then let me know (upgrading to the new blade, no need for an aftermarket dampner!)

www.kneedraggers.com don't ship internationally anyway, so don't worry about it...

they do ship internationally but they don't accept international credit cards which means you have to do a wire transfer which costs a few bucks more...
