  • Funked up second gear

i was wondering if anyone would have an idea why a bike would slip in and out of gear while riding. My dads bike, when in second gear, if hammered goes out of second into neutral, and keeps doing this until he changes to third. Any help appreciated. His bike is a 1998 Suzuki RF900R

Sounds like a sinchro problem, needs a gearbox stripdown to solve, could be pricey.

          I could be wrong though!!!

Too many first-second gear changes whilst doing wheelies?

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

                      gearbox?

I've once read about your problem not long ago in amag and said the rf900 did have a few probs and that was one.But to my idea it was the older ones with more kms what on ya dads? The problem was sync problem selector fork i think yes stripping the box is involed no good.or some ones floged in like below (wheelies 1 to 2nd).hmmmGood luck

He may have learned more about bike transmissions in the 8 years since he wrote that.
