  • Painting pipes..........?

Thinking of painting the pipes (from the block to the underside of the bike).

They have that crappy tarnished / rusty look to them, with the trademark trx blue-ing of pipe 1, and want to clean them up a bit.

Had a look and you can get high temp paints.......but what temp do the pipes get to :?:.....and what ones are any good?

Wondering if it will still end up flaking off or getting stone-chipped to buggery.

Has anyone tried this and found it to work? (Or kicked themselves later when it didn't) :?: :?:

you need to get exhaust enamel (buy it in a spray can from like repco or something. sand your pipes first with really course paper, then go for it. if it looks crap or flakes or whatever, just send em to get hard chromed again

I haven't checked the Blade but my GSXR7 last season ran around 270C at the top of the downpipes, 225 at the bottom and I think 190 at the midpipe.
The exhaust valve on the Blade gets hot enough to melt fibreglass if that helps :-)

Nice pic TRX, where the heck do u find all that kinda stuff :?:

I saw some of that VHT paint at repco the other day, website is helpful.

            Chrysler Hemi-Orange (SP120C)........ um, no.
            Lively Lavender (SP758)......ahhh, no.
Kermit Green (SP760)......should that be Kawasaki green?
Hot Pink (SP756)......riiiiiight. (here come the Madi-Gra comments)

I think I'll go with black, black is good, if I can't get them chromed at a 'cheap' price at is.
