Not knockin' it, they got one awesome power to weight ratio for a 250. (better than some bigger bikes).

          The plumes of blue smoke.
The sound akin to an old paint tin full of bolts being stuck in one of those vibrating mixers at Bunnings.
It's all part of their lovable character.

There a few guys on the site who should be able to help.

This site should have all the info you need.

                    RGV Stuff

Yep, awesome power to weight and the maintenance to match

Things to watch out for are:

                    1) Power valves are essential, make sure they are adjusted/aligned correctly and the cables lubed/maintained or you will notice that powerband feels horrid and some severe damage will occur after a while to the actuator motor that feeds them, it's only a little thing.

                    2) Use good quality synthetic oil, certainly not lawnmower grade crap from Caltex, the quality of the oil will determine a good piston and powervalve life. Using good quality oils will keep the springs in the powervalves running much more smoothly. Use synthetic oils: Silkolene Comp 2 Injector, Bel-Ray Si-7 (I found to be the best so far), Castrol TTS (Good value)

Yes there is a workshop manual which will cost between $100 and $150 from varying bike shops

                    Hope this helps
