Custom Exhuast component thingy =)

ok so my hyosung has a rattle (insert piss taking comment here) and i have nailed it down to being in what would seem to be the flange where both of the header meet to go to the can.

now my question is not can i make up my own flange/Y piece but in doing this would i need to get the carbies re-jetted and the bike dynoed or would it be fine. im thinking that it would be jets and dynoed but would like to here from some others.

Where both headers meet to go to the can as in the 2 into one bit on a two into one system is this a muffler type thing or just two bits of pipe? Assuming you have looked for loose mounting bolts etc etc I'd take it off its probally cracked somewhere take it down to the local exhaust shop and see if they can weld it. The rattle may also be the loose end of a rivet thats come out of the can and there may be nothing wrong with it at all.

If you do get your own replacement bent up you will only need to retune the bike if you radically change the design of the meeting point you could take the suck it and see approach change it if your bike end up running like crap you'll need to retune it/ get it retuned.

it seems to be a muffler type thing and i have had it off and there are no visible cracks that i can see it seems to be something in it that i can not remove.

Probally the baffel is loose just gets some pipe bent up. Shouldn't affect the tune of your bike massively.

Where the two headers (from the cylinders) meet is a catalytic converter.
The stock can uses mechanical baffles, welded in quite well.

From what you've described, I'd put my money on the cat converter being loose.
If your bike is still under warranty, I'd be getting it checked out at DB's or where ever you got the bike from.
