  • Avon tyres

I had an "Avon Azaro AV46-ST" fitted to my 9R last service...

Just wondering if anyone else has used this tyre.

Seems to be quite good so far (just scrubbed it in)

hasn't moved in the wet, it does seem quite soft.

    Looks pretty cool too! 8)

What made you get the avons over something either more popular or something u have experience with?

Waaaaay before there were Michelin Pilot Sports there were Michelin Hi-Sports. They were the ONLY tyres i used. To me they were THE SHIT to have. Now it's there heir, the Pilots Sports I use or Pirelli Dragon Corsa's. In 2001 when i bought a new-off-the-floor ZX-6R i made them change the OEM dunlop 207's to pilots. I stick with what i know cause if i took the chance and got somethign else i'll be stuck with it for at least 5000kms and that would suck!

The mechanic who fitted it on the w/end recommended them. He's a really good mechanic, so I went with em...

No probs so far - the opposite really - handled well even covered in wax...

I'll give most things a go...Ya can't say ya don't like sumfink until ya try it...

      So thats the story anyway....

Also Flakey, where did ya get them and how much? I NEED a couple new tyres REAL soon and might get these, based on your good review. Do they seem to be performing well for you still?

OK... done about 2,500kms on em, less wear than I expected when I first felt how soft they are... 8)

I have had em spin up once on a wet road crossing an intersection (and all the oil there on) and they grabbed when they hit clean bitumen... No nasty surprises.

I don't ride particularly hard though, due to weather and my bike being only form of transport (other than walking) - I can't afford to drop it...

the rear cost $290.00 i think - if not, close to it. and I got it from a mechanic trading as MDH Tuning in Vic Park - not sure of his number as I haven't got his card with me...

Dunno how good the front ones are, but if the rear is anything to go by, I'd buy one. Since puting them on and the mech fixing my suspension, i've never had so much confidence in my bike... 8)

          Hope it helps!

Don't want to bag out the Avon's but .........
I recommend the Diablo's. If you use the bike for trackdays and fast road riding get the Diablo corsa's, if you don't do trackdays just get the standard Diablo's.
I did a trackday on the Diablo corsa's and they were unbelievable. Didn't let go and gave me great confidence. I now use them on the road and for a soft tire they hold up really well to wear and tear.

I agree with try new stuff but.........when it comes to stuff like tyres, the really important things, I always say go with what you know.

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

I'm with Dave, the Diablos are outstanding tires.

                    Dont let go?

The tyres that let go were my Supercorsa's!! not my Diablo corsa's.
Either way Pirelli make great tyres and at good prices.
