  • Neons baby!

Hey folks, I've notice one or two of you have neons underneath the pillion seat.

I've had a few myself .. my first one got a bit saturated from the rain splashing off the wheel. Second got smashed (forgot to secure it properly - oops) and my other twin neons got wet again, doh! Thought they'd be ok with black leccy tape on the sides..

What did you guys use? Silicon?

Also, why the hell is it illegal to have neons on your vehicle? Damn the 'Fast and the Furious' movie (everyone gets them and transport dept. bans it).

Neons dont distract me from riding/driving more than a funky tune I heard on the radio yesterday. If someone else gets distracted by neons on a vehicle more than one of those bra ad's on bus-stops it's their own problem to deal with.

    (I've nearly been stickered twice)

Anyone watch Pizza? "Chicks! Look at me chicks! Aren't ya just horny from da neons!"

Actually.. apparently the rollertoyz decided to get a petition going and neons are now not illegal. It is however illegal if you are showing the actual globe. I'm not too sure if this is the same with bikes or not, but I don't see why it wouldn't be.. some thing.
Right now Im having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think Ive forgotten this before.

Neons might catch on fire if something sparks it! like fuel leaking out of ya tank and the globes fuses and then ignites etc.. *shrugs*

Damo, I don't think there is a great risk of fire from neons, there just different and the doofus people that make laws don't like new/different things especially when there are in conjuntion with youth !!!!

Anyway what next after neons ? A mega sub under the seat so that you can sound like all those nobs with V8's that toss around Scarbs....

"Fire" there's more chance of you spontaneouslly combusting !!!

          neon lights

Just thought that I would add my ten cents worth,
Would have to agree with Gordo, don't see the point of neons, I think they detract from the look of a bike(personal opinion only), I think they are unique on their own without hanging too many accessories off them, although that doesn't include performance enhancing parts.
Also, not blowing my own trumpet(although feels good when you do!)I am a mechanic and have had a fair bit to do with electrics, L.E.D's etc and if hooked up correctly the chances of fire are almost nil.
If in doubt use L.E.D's as they produce less heat, last longer and give off a better light.................I'll just shut up now.

I have a neon on my bike and the CHICKs LOVE IT .. "oh my god pauly.. thats fully sick".

            nerr its just something different.

Yes mine are silicon sealed and i have never had a prblem wid water.

So iv heard that they are now legal, but as chook said only if the cop cant stand at the side and see the globe, which is hard for bikes. This info was from a friend of a friend of mine..

My is also connected to a fuse as well as a switch .. so bit safe ( i hope)

            hope this helps
            Love
            Nick

Hmmm, personally I think it's pretty average having neons on your bike. It's a little to "Biker Boyz" to me, but hey, what the hell, show us some pics guys.

                Thanks for the input guys..

Yeah the chicks love it! [smirk]

melkor? I've been looking for legislation etc on the net, e-mailed one of the .gov.au places asking for some help but no reponse. Just want to know officially whether or not it's legal.

Campo, it does have some wank-factor but personally, I do it to stand out just that bit more. Plus eet lookz kool!!

I got pulled over by the 'boyz' because they wanted to "check out the neons"....they gave me the big thumbs up! F'kin awsome idea they said!
They couldn't fault it.....red, can only bee seen from the rear, and easier to see than the standard LED taillight.
.....I reckon they just wanted to check out the new Blade.....
                            ...having dinner with KARMA tonight...
