What about ceramic coating? I've got a set of pipes, chrome at the moment but I'm thinking a blast and then ceramic black...

                        Thread revival....

Other than cosmetic reasons, is a particular coating better suited in certain circumstances?

                        i.e. hot exhausts

The ceramic coating isn't that expensive either, & CIC do a great job.

Anodising is a few microns thick and is there to stop corrosion, even aluminium parts that look "raw" will have clear anodising on them although it can scratch and wear, it's generally considered to be a harder coating than paint or power coating.
