  • Rim cleaning

Been cleaning the R1 up in the anticipation of getting her over the pits in the near future.
The rims are filthy, caked on brake dust and grime that has been sat on there for well over 12 months.
I have tried Kero, degreaser, stardust, WD40, everything.
Nothing would really do a decent job without a lot of elbow grease.
Picked up the Windex, sprayed it on and it literally fell off onto the cloth.
So give it a go if you want an easy way to clean your rims.

Wow, suprised that was a lot better than stuff like kero and degreaser.

Mine are filthy right now, will give it a go and see how it goes.

    Cheers

Ammonia is used in most glass cleaners and could be the reason behind its success with cleaning rims?

I've used Mr Sheen and Spray n Wipe on the car's rims to great success, haven't thought to try them on the 2fiddy yet.

Great tip - but here's a better one.

Dont let your rims get to that stage in the first place.

Good to know you used degreaser. I started cleaning the swimgarm yesterday, it had caked on grease and crap. I got all that off, then noticed the rim was dull. Started cleaning that up, came up a beaut.....then freaked, wondering if the degreaser was going to dissolve the rim.....

              Bike looks shiny and intact

I use a bit of "Handy Andy" floor cleaner on both my Bike and Car rims......works a treat.

I'm not sure I'd want to use (what I presume is) a bleach based product on paint?

Edit: Googled, it's just ammonia. Pls continue

White wheels are hot and entirely worth the effort.

(PS this poster does not have white wheels to clean )

i used white spirits to clean mine, worked pretty well, but then again they weren't "caked"
