  • ZZR Mods.... Need your expert advice fella's

    Hey Guys,

Im new to bikes and i've just landed myself a pretty nice ZZR250 which i have some plans for to get it looking mint for summer

What i was wondering is a couple of things, my rear mufflers have a number of marks of them like rubber and all this other crap, is it best to have them repolished or something or just get new mufflers? Who in perth can polish them?

If i was going to get a new muffler i would have the duel exhaust converted into a nice big single exhuast as the twin system on the ZZR looks kinda gay. What does everyone think of this? How much would i expect to pay to do a single exhaust conversion and where would be the best place to go?

    Cheers Fella's

Hey Blake, welcome to the forum mate. In all honesty, wouldn't you rather save the cash for when you get a bigger bike??

With the polishing, there's a few things you can do, hand polish with some gear or there might be one of the guys on here that could help. he does a lot of polishing at work but I'll point him towards you.

Are you only going to hang on to your wheels for the 12 months till you get your open license? If so, I'd save the cash to get a really good system on a bigger bike. Just hold off for a bit, 12 months is nothing!

Plus, being only new, just in case you drop your 250, like many of us have when learning, it could be quite costly.

But if you really want to do something then yeah, they guys here can definatly help out. Go see Pete at Cauesway Honda, tell him Perth Extreme sent ya.

      Campo's right (for once )

save ya money for ya next bike... dont waste ya time. The rubber on the exhaust wil burnoff with time.

Get some autosol (Marlows sells it) and just keep polishing and it will come up nice.

oh .. and welcome to the forum

          Sup AussiMagna and welcome.

Chances are the rubber thats on the pipe are bits of melted shoes from a pillion.

You may need to get some GooGone, a citrus based solvent that you can get from Marlows (De-Solve-It I think its called).

After a little bit of attention it should come off but you will fine under the rubber it may leave a bit of a stain so only way to get it off fully is to polish like the boys said.

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome guys. I agree with saving the money and getting a bigger bike but i can't leave anything alone, i have to mod it otherwise it drives me crazy lol.

I will start with some paint and move my way from there.

I will try and get these bastard marks and scratches out and see how we go. I do like the ZZR250, it goes great. Im sure other bikes go alot better but hey for a first bike i think its a screamer

I might check out this bursword honda place and see how we go, probobly end up walking away with a cbr or something lol.

Thanks anyway guys. One question though, any idea how much id be looking at to convert my dual exhuast into a single one with a new muffler?

                ZZR250 is a twin...I believe...so you'd want a 2-1 system...
