  • 2004 RSV 1000R Seat cowling adjustment

I'm fitting a factory seat cowling but it doesnt want to sit right.

At first it was sticking up about 15mm - i removed a couple rubbers and swapped them
out with with a pair that had a lower profile - that got the gap down to 8mm.... then
i removed the outer rubbers - that dropped it down to about 4mm but it still looks like
    shit...

How are they supposed to sit - shouldn't they be nice and tight... and flush ?

From what I can tell there is no adjustment I can tweak.

I have a damaged spare so I'm think of modifying the locking pin - shaving a few
mm of the shank to get it pulled down tighter.

Anyone have any experience with these ?

I change from the padded rear seat to the plastic cowl in seconds, sure you have factory parts?

Apart from the sxv, aprilia has a good rep for reliability and build quality.
Yours looks different to my cowl midland, r u sure it's the right part?

Was it left in the rain and shrunk?

ok - my fix.... i turned up a couple of new plastic spacers - 3mm bigger than the originals:

shaved a couple of mm off the outer internal rubbers... done:

not perfect but I can live with it:
