  • Whats with all the Ducati hate

Out of interest whats with all the Ducati haters.
I enjoy the odd bit of ribbing every now and then, but ye ol Ducati haters get a bit harsh on the forum.

I have been riding now for 27 years (jeaze thats a long time now I write it) most of it on Jap bikes until I found a job where I could afford my first Ducati, now Ive managed to accumulate 3

It just kind of gets me down when people go on and on and on about to quote another thread
what should we expect from those latte sipping, arseclowns that are Ducati riders?
I mean thats not a gentle ribbing that comes across quite nasty

    Opinions please.
I thought about posting this in the general bike talk but thought I would just open up to general abuse.

haha you joined PSB in 2007. You should realise by now that it's not Ducati hate, it's just general forum member hate. People that post on internet forums are generally negative cunts and will hate on anything they aren't personally attached to. Don't take it personally.

I ride Moto Guzzi. And everyone knows they're much better than Ducatis.

Matey, it's jealousy. Pure and simple.
However, I wouldn't trade my Griso for all your Ducatis. You can whack them, all up your long macs....

From your quote it seems you're of the wrong impression. It's not the Ducati that they hate...

Read the last word in the quote you made. Riders. Not Ducatis. Ducati riders.

Much like Hardley Ableson, Ducati is simply a brand that tends to attract people more interested in motorcycle culture than actual motorcycle enthusiasts; people that want to be seen on a bike - without having any interest in the process of riding it.

When I was buying bike #4 I seriously considered the Panigale 899, despite all the PSB comments about Ducati riders. Rode my bike and the Pani, liked the Daytona more, and bought it. Most Ducs are bike porn, but are too impractical for poor people like me (and I ride my bike daily)

I love how people say that like ducatis are not affordable. If you can afford a jap bike, you can afford a ducati - it's not much of a stretch.

No, its based on the fact that well over 50% of the people i know who have owned ducatis have had them break down and need roadside repairs and/or have been back to the shop for repair within 3 months (or in at least one case, within a week after stranding the owner - brand new 1098) of ownership.

It's not jealousy. If i wanted a ducati i'd own one. I'd own an Aprilia in preference though.

Sure, i take the piss a bit, but it is based on observation of the experiences people i know have had with them.

Oh, that and the fact that most of the 1098s and 1198s i see on the road have 1-2 inch chicken strips and the riders are crap (exceptions that spring to mind being lit, AZAZL and Buck)

“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

I can't afford one, and I have just as much fun on a bike that costs substantially less. Most bikes look the same to women, regardless of the price tag..

You missed the point of his post.

The quote you quoted had a bit more depth to it than the bit you latched onto.

Eg. Couple of bad cops means they're all bad, point being made that some ducati riders only ride them between cafés so they all must do it.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

I actually smiled at the quote. I know bad cops are a minority, unlike latte sipping Ducati riders!

I have a personal vendetta against people who see a bike they like, buy it, clumsily ride it around a bit before stopping off for a drink, ride it home, and don't go to a racetrack to utilize every powered horse it has at 60 degree lean angles.

I put those fuckers in the same category as people who have 6 burner stoves and only use 3 at most, people who have an i7 CPU just for browsing the net, people who have an 80 inch TV and only watch Today Tonight, and people who bought a PS4 and 10 games recommended by the salesman just because they were bored one afternoon.

They are clearly idiots who don't deserve such things as they're not truly passionate enough to comprehend what they own. It's plain and simple. They will never understand bike culture, riding, or passion as much as true aficionados. Who are they fooling?
