  • Suzuki gt250

G'day all, my names Jesse and Im new to this site, Im from Brisbane QLD.
Ive got a couple of bikes but at the moment Im putting together a 74 GT250 suzuki. Its got a fully rebuilt motor (stock at present) with all new bearings, seals, pistons etc. Im putting an early rgv front on it with twin 4 pot calipers. Im building it as a cafe racer and hoping to get a bit more performance out of it. If anyone knows about hotting up these old suzukis, Id love to hear from you! I want to do the usual two stroke mods (porting, expansion chambers, bigger carbs)so plans at this stage are:
-porting(dont know how but will try)
-making some early tz250 spec pipes
-bigger carbs, 28-32mm mikunis? or perhaps Koso (Keihin copies)off ebay, does anyone know anything the above mods,
    thanks and cheers,
    Jesse

      Well I can help a bit. I have done up Gt 125, Gt 250s and a Gt 500. Just done a rg250.
Rg exhaust would be good for the gt250 project I can give you the exact porting dimensions if you want but in my opinion it would mAke the bike very difficult to ride in traffic
I'm Living the dream. Really I am.

Hey all, there has been a reasonable bit of progress on the gt250,
          -I pieced together a vj21 front end,
-machined the fork stem down to fit the gt frame,
-fitted taper race roller bearings to the stem
          -fitted motor
-got a guy to roll me the cones neccessary to build a sweet pair of spannies based on an original suzuki document from 1969( were originally for a t20 super six- which the gt250 is based on)
-cut/tried/cut again/tacked all pieces untill the pipes fitted the bike
-got them tig welded up to finish the job
-found some rare old stock ngk racing plugs to suit
Now all I need is electrics hooked up and new chain/sprockets to ride, cant wait to hear the sound of the new exhaust (no mufflers- stingers only!)
if you want to see pics check this site
