  • CKWTK-Hypothetical: Ultimate iteration of your bike?

This may or may not work but here's a hypothetical for you.

You have unlimited funds to modify your bike but you can only modify your bike. You cannot use the money to purchase a new bike, or x number of bikes.
The funds are only available to apply upgrads and modificationsto your current ride.

What do you do.. WHAT DO YOU DO??

I'll start. bone stock 749, needs a bit more flash and dash right?

    Item #1: NCR Titanium frame/subframe.

Item #2: Ducati Performance carbon fiber bodywork, endurance spec (Retains headlight).

Item #3: Ohlins Superbike spec FRG900 gas-charged forks + Brembo Nickel coated monoblock calipers with M/C + TTX rear shock

Marchesini Forged magnesium wheels in black. I have enough carbon already.

Then the big daddy.. 1098R engine transplant, fits perfectly with some minor airbox surgery and new exhaust.

    So... What would you do?

Assuming all parts can be fitted relatively easily.. Like a ZX9/10 engine in a ZX7 frame, not a Hayabusa engine in a CBF250 (Let's not be too silly here). All labour/freight/etc is included.

What's the ultimate, buildable version of your bike?

Without spending a cent I have customized my ride to look very unique.
Threw it down on both sides. Pimped my ride at no cost.

Are you sure I can't just buy another bike then mod the shit out of it?
        I have a Honda shadow. :/

          Nope, must be your bike.

You can take inspiration from a custom builder if you want..

Apart from a bit of paint I'm struggling to think of anything else I'd do apart from some nice Brembo's.

Handlebar tassles and playing cards on the wheels?

Not the colour scheme and the front end would be different. But supercharger, yeeeaah, we could go that!

Wait you just put a new frame, fairings, forks, shock, wheels and engine, and remember for that engine you will need to replace the ecu and wiring...

So all you need to do is replace the triples and the swing arm and it's not the same bike...

Well Ok you still have the same headlight...

How is it the same bike if it has a different frame, subframe, forks, wheels and engine?
What % of stuff in there needs to change for it to be a different bike already?

It's purely a hypothetical exercise. I chose a range of near direct or direct-swap replacements for existing/oem parts. It's still the same bike to me.

Nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy every now and then.

                            Fit all the carbons!
                            Wss motor
                            Ohlins
                            Brembos

“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

I would keep my handle bars and replace everything else to end up with this:
