  • KWTK: Your ideal job?

After seeing a few threads on people thinking about changing professions I was thinking what are your ideal jobs? What did you want to be when growing up and perhaps why it did not come about? Lack of money, lack of talent, lack of training or opputunity, etc.

    List your top 3.

    Mine:

    1. Fighter pilot.

    Why:
Bought up on a love of WWII fighter planes and then flight sim PC games and then Top Gun.

    Why Not:
I don't think they have enough sick bags. I have serious motion sickness and generally throw up on large commercial planes let alone fighters!

    2. Wildlife Photographer/Film Maker

    Why:
Adore animals and love photography and film making and love the Steve Parish and national geographic type stuff. Would also dabble in sports photography as well.

    Why Not:
Don't have the patience (bit ADD) and would involve alot of travel which I dont do well at (see above). Also think it would be very very hard to make a decent living at and not sure I have the artistic flair required.

    3. WRC Rally Driver

    Why:
Think it is awesome driving experience and fun and dangerous.

    Why Not:
Yes see option 1!! I get sick racing go karts, let alone full on rally driving!

Others close to the list, drummer in rock band or professional golfer.

    1) Professional Sailor - I got there by age 17, but competitive racing as well as training 4 times a week, flying somewhere every month and trying to juggle a uni degree kind of burns you out and the money in only really JUST covers expenses.

Why not: Sailing wasn't fun anymore when doing it 6 days a week for 50 weeks a year, so I bailed on top-level competition at 21 and just spent my time teaching people to sail - kind of sucks to find that your dream job was not actually THAT enjoyable

    2) Surf/soul and travel documentary maker - Along the lines of rip-curl search type stuff, just spend my years travelling around the world and filming surfing and travel locations and get paid for it.

Why not: My film, surf and cash skills are not up to scratch aha

    3) Billionaire Playboy - to be the next Paris Hilton, only male... earn cash simply for being me, just spend my time attending rich parties, getting drunk and making homemade sex-videos whilst sleeping with B-grade celebrities...

Why not: I'm not a billionaire

            Grizzly bear.

Hibernate and be antisocial 6 months of the year with a valid excuse, eat stray wildlife enthusiasts and stupid conservationists that think I'm not going to eat them, peel and eat fresh salmon and berries, eat the neighbours annoying children while their mum isn't watching, float about being generally lazy and fat.

            Viking.

            Loot, rape and pillage.
Then grow a cool beard and go to German raves and point at people.

wait a minute.. haven't we done this before.....?

                    1. Astronaut
Ive always had a love/interest in space
Why not: Its pretty damn risky but then again if you love your job enough the risks almost wouldnt matter.

                    2.SAS/commando's
Ive had an interest in the armed forces since i was little and its always interested me, not many people are successful getting accepted so once in that would be a great achievement in itself
Why not: High risk of death/ your never home
                    RIP ADRIAN LEE
                    16-12-1986 - 22-3-2007
I had plenty of time to rub one out in space which was great but after awhile it was like living in a snowglobe - Peter Griffin

                      Life coach

Why: I think it would be tremendously rewarding to assist people to focus their mind, achieve their objectives and get what they want out of life

                      Why not: lack of ambition

I had also never considered Maxo's suggestions before, although now that I read them, they seem very tempting.

I wouldn't mind being a teacher. The sense of satisfaction and acheivement gained from moulding the next generation of bright eager young minds would be its own reward. Plus they get great holidays.

Why not: Really not a fan of screaming snot-nosed rugrats.

It would also be cool to work for NASA or some other space program. You get to have a rewarding unique job in a field you're passionate about, plus theres the added bonus that noone can tell you "it's not rocket science".
Mind you, its not brain surgery. dammit.

                        Why not: Think "Challenger"
