Ok the guy does look like a dork.... and probably is..... however the bike is a drag bike for the streetbike shootout class... not a real fast one but a bike anyway...
do some research and you will be shocked..
the top bike 2 years ago was a turbo blackbird with nitrous, street registered and capable of street riding. maximum wheelbase 68" hence the longer swingarm and no wheelie bars.
(wheelie bars are for beginners.... class moto)
7.5sec @ 185mph through the traps on street rubber with the back wheel still spinning and the front wheel off the ground the whole way...

but yer i've read that the longer swingarm gives a lower centre of gravity and helps them drag the 1/4 mile faster. So it has a use. Just looks fucked.
