  • SLow bittorents..

Ok here is the drama on a iighey 256dsl ( slow i know but what i can afford )

last week my down and up speed dropped from about 25k/s down and 30k/s up to
under 6k down and 3k up.. this is local waix and international

now this is on azzurus, abc, and rufus bt programs have rebooted modem, tried countless new random ports...
also tried older version of azzurus and new version with new java
    left pc/mopdem off for 12hrs..

now this is the q can iighey limit the speeds of BT's?? but allow full speed when dl from a server?
or is iighey trying to get rid of the old blink accounts?

also this is happening to another mate of mine aroudn the same time and he on dsl modem (1500 ) and i am on router, so thats 2 different hardware and software configs yet same drama?
    RIP Scott!
    RIP Onikage!
    RIP ODDZ!

Network services was running upload trial on bliink accounts that caused some bliink customers to have faster upload speeds over the last few months. We will be ending this trial tonight and therefore, some customers may notice a decrease in upload speeds. This will affect clients as follows,

    1.5/768 down to 1.5/256
    512/512 down to 512/128
    256/256 down to 256/64
This will only affect the limited number of clients who were on DSLAMs before the release of iibb2 accounts and have not made any account changes since.

All bliink customers on this trial have been notified to this effect with the following email sent on July 25th, located on the marketing intranet page:

iiNet is unable to slow down your bittorrent frank.

I had some problems when i first got dropped as my ratio got reamed but after some tweaking i managed to get full speeds again

some torrent source require you to upload to download.

the bliink accounts have been grandfathered and are no longer offered but we dont force you off them
    erno.

you may just be on a slow torrent or two, like all p2p you can only download as fast as the other person can upload. Try setting your upload speed to 5kb (assumming you have have 256/64) and leave it for a couple of hours and see if the speed climbs.

how many seeds and peers were you connected to franky ?

less peers and less seeds means less speed!

usually international torrents are popular, so lots of seeds

waix torrents ive found to be CRAP since only a few ppl (i.e perth ppl) will be connecting

          YMMV

Well here is an interesting one.

Ive just upgraded the parents bliink256 to iibroadband2, and from having intermittent dropouts, pages refusing to load, slow downloads (as in WAY under 256k spec, like 8-10k a second max), it has now cleared up.

Want to bet iinet are shitting up everyones bliink accounts to force them to migrate over to the iibroadband2?

Strangely enough, with iinet that wouldnt suprise me in the least, dodgy shit merchants that they are.....GO WESTNET!!

You know iinet throttle your speeds when you reach your download cap right?

Obviously you have not dealt with Westnet.

256/64 should be getting you about 25k down and 5k-ish up. If your upload is maxxed then I wouldnt expect your download to be performing that well, try using netlimiter to shape the upload a little. Ensure you have port forwarded the necessary ports you are using in your router (azzureus uses 6881 by default), otherwise NAT will be causing you some dramas.

I expect you are getting 25k-ish from download off the iinet file server?

I am extremely doubtful iinet is going to play silly buggers with your connection just to get you off an account.

cant see why not... uncapped waix for 1... and less money,if i upgrade my account then thats more $$ for same dl will need iiphone as well...
all of sudden iinet have $50 a month or more out of me for some programming work on my account or how ever it is done multiply this by thousands of customers and it is some seriuous money.

what fraud? my blink plans allows blinkzone ie waix, iinet games etc not to be counted towards my dl quota.
is what i meant sorry for the misunderstanding.
the new ii2 plans dont have this feature and all downloads are counted..

keith y upgrade for? 256 has being fine for up untill last week or so and for some strange reason it is working again?
