  • Recommend me a mattress

Seriously, before I do my own research in-store, throw up some suggestions.

For the last 20 years since a teen I've slept on futon mattresses, lately I've been having more and more trouble sleeping and getting comfortable with old injuries neck and shoulder etc.

I like the idea of a reasonably firm mattress as I have trialled a normal spring one in the past and that is now in the spare room as they move far too much.
I'm looking for comfort, good isolation of sleep from wife moving about in the night and vice versa. As I said firm is good, especially when being used as the workbench, always good to be firm on that front when getting my porn star on.

Doesn't need to be anything overly fancy like the ability to move up and down like a hospital bed, I'm not that lazy.

Looking to know if anyone has found that dream bed that they swear by that gives them a great night's sleep.

    Fire away.

    Everyone is different dude.

I had to spend $5k before I found a bed that I liked

Latex beds are good for isolation. Also can get normal spring beds that are firmed up with air and are adjustable for each side.

A good quality spring bed shouldn't disturb your partner.

I still use a futon and know what you mean - sometimes it can be a bit tough getting comfy.

      No help, I know.

          SlumberCare Genuine Orthopaedics

west australian made i'm pretty sure the ensemble base frames are made by activ industries in bentley, well that's what they were making when i used to deliver pine there 8 years ago.

i'm onto my 2nd bed from these guys the first i used for around 10 years and only upgraded because when my wife moved in 5 years ago she wanted a slat bedbase rather than the ensemble (i think she didn't want to sleep on the ex wifes bed), so it got handed down to my daughter first was a standard mattress which i flipped every few months, the new (5 years old) one is a non flip but i still rotate it every few months.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

I recently bought one of those memory foam mattresses, and it's been great. I'd recommend trying one of those out.

Go for a pillow-top. I bought a firm mattress just recently and the pillow-top makes it so goddamn comfortable.

A friend of mine used to make mattresses for Bedshed. These pillow tops are just a tiny bit of foam. If you need a pillow top to make your mattress comfortable then you mattress is the wrong one.

Pillow tops are just a gimmick to make the mattress feel comfortable on the showroom floor.

I'm aware of what a pillow top is, thanks though.
I sleep on enough different, usually really firm, beds (doing field service work around Aus) to know that the pillow top does make a massive difference to how comfortable a bed is.

Comfiest mattress I've ever tried in store was a $5k latex one. Foam/spring haven't compared, so I would suggest trying a few if you can find them.
