  • Dropbox halp...

Just throwing it out there to any dropbox users on here (I know there are a few), do you experience dropbox restarting explorer when it starts? I noticed it when I first installed dropbox and now every time I turn on my computer it logs in, then restarts explorer (taskbar/icons disappear for a few seconds then it's like I just logged on again).

I'd like to know if it's normal as well as what it's doing and why... Seems suss as hell and my usb peripherals broke for the first time about five minutes after installation; it's like my USB drivers/bus locked up or something...

I use it all the time with Chrome and have no problems. Is it auto syncing to a folder or something.

Nah, seems to just kill the explorer process on logon.

Hmm, I would think there's a delay between your explorer process starting & your Dropbox account logging in so it restarts the explorer service. What sort of internet connection do you have? I use it on all my computers, (6 or so between work & home), and my phone and don't have any issues.

Why should it restart the explorer service? Does it have something to do with Windows Explorer shell integration?

I'm running mobile internet that's as fast as the ADSL2+ line I have back home...

That may explain it - if you use a client to connect to your mobile internet your computer won't have an internet connection when it starts system services & will need to restart Explorer to complete the Dropbox integration once you have internet connectivity.
